Just how shitty has our starting pitching been? Shit is heaped higher than the lone port-a-potty at a Mexican food convention.Starting Pitching Through 26 Games:
*Have allowed 5+ runs 9 times.
*Haven't managed to last 5 innings 8 times.
*Allowed 36 homeruns.
*Have an era of 6.60 and whip of 1.77. I know era/whip can be deceiving, but there's no deception in those numbers, that's flat-out horrible.
*Brett Myers is the era leader with a robust 5.35.
*7 innings is the longest outing this season (thanks to Myers and Ho Park).
*Given up 180 hits in 137.2 innings, along with 53 walks, and 10 hit batters. That's 243 baserunners in 137.2 innings...shitty!!!
*Here's the kicker- have averaged only 5.28 innings per start. Steve Carlton is appalled.

I'm damn glad to have my computer back. Not being able to vent this week through the blog only made matters worse.
Cole Hamels needs to step up and give the Phils a gem tonight. That's what aces do. He hasn't pitched like an ace since October.
does someone need to kill a chicken or something to make sure Hamels doesn't have another freak accident?

Lidge has been horrible. Can't locate his pitches and has given up 5 homeruns already. He's lucky he was perfect last year, or he'd be getting the Tom Gordon "boo" treatment.

yeah, back here in chi-town, our pitching hasnt been too good either. with the exception of buerhle, all our starters pretty much belong in the toilet with your bullpen.

Good to see Hamels pitch a quality start. Maybe now the staff will start the turn around process to fix the problems it has.
