Starting Pitching Craps the Bed
The Phillies starting pitchers have put a 2-spot on the scoreboard in the 1st inning of all 3 games so far this season. That's a very bad pattern to fall into. Brett Myers, Jamie Moyer, and Joe Blanton did nothing to help the Phils win. And if not for a wild Rick Ankielesque Braves bullpen meltdown the Phils would be staring at 0-3 in the face on the way to Colorado. Phillies starting pitchers: 0-2, 15 ip, 25 h, 15 r, 6 hr, 5 bb, 9.00 era, 2.00 whip.
Unbeknown to many of you, Corey and I have been catching a lot of flak for badmouthing the Pirates recently. We feel we're speaking the nonsugarcoated truth, yet apparently we're being overly critical. Well, I guess I'll give credit where credit is due, and credit is due to the Pirates who through a whopping 3 games have a winning record. Better celebrate your momentary success now Bucco fans, because I see it fleeting.
