Every pitching staff is going to have a rough 10 game patch during the course of a season. It just sucks, and to me is worrisome, that it's coming to start this season.
As much as I hate the saying, because it infuriates me, it is a "marathon, not a sprint". 10 games out of 162 with a 4-6 record is nothing to give up on, and I'm not giving up. I'm just venting my frustration.
I'm honestly not that worried yet. Annoyed as hell, but not worried.
For one thing, April's an historically crappy month for the Phillies. It'd be nice to start out hot just once, but why start now?
And for another...I don't think they've played too many games where baseball was the actual focus. The Colorado series, maybe. First there was the Opening Night hoopla, then there was the Ring Ceremony. Then Harry died. Throw in a rainout and there have just been too many other things going on. I think things will begin to turn around when the team can start concentrating on baseball. I just hope that happens soon.
I understand it's only 10 games out of a 162 game season, but nearly the entire pitching staff is crap right now, and that my friends is cause for alarm. Myers looks okay, and I'll add Eyre and possibly Blanton to that mix, but the rest are simply not good enough right now, and as a collective group that will lead to long losing streaks if most of them don't right themselves.
"It's not their fail-proof blueprint." - The Phillies were horrible in April the last two seasons and they made the playoffs both times. Maybe it is a fail-proof blueprint.
i need the phils to start winning some games, because the NHL playoffs are killing me. i'm not sure what game the refs want the flyers to play, but it definitely isn't hockey. might be soccer, i see lots of the pens rolling around the ice in pain

I am just so frustrated. This loss wouldn't have been NEARLY as bad had we held that lead and won on Friday...
If you recall, the Phils had a winning April last year.
april isn't over.
Surprised by how many names are on the Howard list without the man who is favored to lead the league in the category.
Howard is playing amazing defense so far this season, plus he hasn't really gotten his power stroke on yet.

Yeah, after starting 4-6, whereas this year, they've started...4-6.
