At a Phillies Blog Near You...

What's going on at Phillies blogs around the Internet?

*The World Series trophy is going on tour. I heard the opening act is the Phanatic prancing around doing his slapstick routine followed by Sarge wearing goofy-ass hats and Wheeler doing toupee tricks. Over the Holidays the WS trophy made a pitstop at my house to take a picture with my Christmas tree.

*Phoul Ballz is prepping for fantasy baseball season, and takes a look at some of the Phillies getting drafted early. This reminds me, we will be running the WSBGM's Phantasy League III this season, so get ready.

*The Fightins glimpse at the legend of newly crowned Hall-of-Famer Rickey Henderson and the impression he made upon Jimmy Rollins as a youth.

*Phillies Nation is busy breaking down the best 25 games of the season and they chose an October 5th game highlighted by an onslaught of Pat Burrell homeruns as Game #12.

*The House that Glanville Built shows how the tables have turned in the Philly vs. NY battle recently. Phils triumph in World Series, Flyers ahead of Rangers in the standings, and the Eagles trouncing the Giants this past Sunday.

*More Hardball has come across some evidence of a budding relationship between Jose Reyes and David Wright. I knew they were close, but I had no idea.

Rays beat Phils?
The Tampa Bay Rays may have succumbed to the powerful Phillies back in October, but they beat them out in the free agent market yesterday by signing right-handing hitting outfielder Gabe Kapler to a 1 year $1M deal. Kapler will now pair up with Gabe Gross (the Gabe Combo) to platoon in RF for the Rays. Kapler was a target of the Phils, along with Nomar Garciaparra, so this means NO-mar just became one step closer to becoming a Phillie; much to Corey's chagrin. I really wanted Kapler because after doing a Google image search for him, I came across many pictures like the one here to the right...just imagine the possibilities.

I didn't know you guys were running a fantasy league. Whats the format and how can I get in?

There will be a post sometime in February or March about registration. We've ran 1 each of the past 2 seasons.

That looks like a Charlie Brown Christmas tree.

Your post about Philly/NY forgot that the Sixers are currently better than the Knicks, if only by a small margin. I point that out in my write-up on the same Philly ownage over New York (written before this one!)

Signings:
Pirates signed Craig Monroe to a minor league deal- whoopty!

Braves signed Derek Lowe to a 4 year $60M deal- bummer!

The Phils are better off without Kapler or Nomar.
They are both on the decline. Nomar's career BA is attractive but he's going to expect more money and playing time than he deserves. Plus, he's still injury prone, post-roids. He was unbearable in the clubhouse for the Sox in 2004 as a starter. He won't be worth upsetting the current Phils clubhouse mojo.

think the Braves are anything to be concerned about this coming season?

My sister moved to New York and married a New Yorker this summer. I have enjoyed this dominance so very, very much by rubbing it right in his stupid face.

Yes I think Atlanta should be of concern. They got Vasquez, some Japanese dude, and now Lowe. My guess is they'll sign an outfielder on the cheap here too and be a competitive team next season.

Ex-Phillies Brian Sanches signed a minor league deal with the Marlins.

Carson, there are 2 types of people in this world: people who buy their christmas tree before Xmas eve and those who buy thier tree on Xmas eve.

I have that exact tree. I paid $12.50 for it on eBay. Seriously.
