Game 2 Recap
Player of the Game
Brett Myers had a rough night on the mound, giving up five in five. But it was his three "bail and flail" singles and three RBIs that make Myers the key player in the Phils game two win.
"I’m not a very good hitter," said Myers. "I just get lucky occasionally."
Myers has gotten lucky four times this postseason. No word on whether Charlie will consider Brett for the DH role if the Phils make it to the World Series.
For The Love of Jobu
Ryan Howard's post-game comments: "Bats, they are sick. I cannot hit curveball. Straightball I hit it very much. Curveball, bats are afraid. I ask Jobu to come, take fear from bats. I offer him cigar, rum. He will come."
Key Defensive Moments
The Good - If Victorino doesn't catch Casey Blake's drive to deep center in the 7th, the Phils lead would have been cut to one.
The Bad - The dependable "Cooch" Ruiz seemed a little lax on the curve in the dirt that K'd Rafael Furcal in the 5th inning. A blocked pitch would have ended the inning. Instead, two batters later Manny goes deep and the Dodgers are back in the game.
Awkward Interview Of The Day
Here is a paraphrased portion of the post-game interview with Brett Myers performed by FOX's Chris Myers.
Chris: Today's player of the game, Brett Myers. No relation.
Brett: I don't think so.
Chris: Not yet.
Wait a second, what? Not yet. What does that mean? I was half expecting Myers (Chris) to get down on his knees and propose. At least somebody on the broadcast team is getting excited about the Phillies.
Simers Inaccurate Quote Of The Day
"It isn't just a game here in Angryville, but a violent attitude to determine who is really tougher."
It's not a determination of who is tougher, it's a celebration.
