Shake, Rattle, & Roll

Congratulations Dodgers, you finally joined the Phillies in the NLCS by notching a victory against our fireballing 45 year old lefty. During the game you attempted to instill fear in our hearts by sending a message via fastball to Shane Victorino's helmet region. Was that because Pippi Longstocking Manny had one thrown behind him in game 1 or because Russell the Love Muscle Martin got drilled by a blazing 80 mph Grand Pappy Moyer offering in the 1st inning? Seriously, this is the Phillies, Chase Utley and Vic are just looking for reasons to get a running start and plunge headfirst into some dumbass that taunts them. Manny you really want to tangle with a mammoth-sized Ryan Howard, a psycho Brett Myers, or the deadly bite of our little chihuahua Carlos Ruiz? Think not! So, you can try to shake, rattle, and roll this crew all you want, but the bottom line is the Phils are still up 2-1 in the series and Joe Blanton's ready to to make that 3-1 and one step closer to the World Series tonight.

Have faith and fear not Phillies fans, this was merely a bump in the road. You had to figure the Dodgers would at least win one game in the Chavez Ravine. Yes, the game was over in the first inning, but a loss is a loss and a win is a win, so it really doesn't matter how close the score was (or wasn't in this case). I am concerned about Jamie, because he's been uncharacteristically bad in his two playoff starts, but lets remember he was the staff leader that got us into the postseason to begin with so cut the old man some slack. As long as Blanton pitches a quality game tonight and the bats supply some pop, another win for the good guys will happen and panic can return to bliss. Oh, and when we're up 6-1 in the 9th inning, drill Man-Ram in the earhole if he's batting. Go Phils!

On this day in 1993:
Mickey Morandini gets Greg Maddux out of the game with a hot smash off his shin. Meanwhile, Tommy Greene regained his effectiveness at the Vet as the Phils clinched the 1993 pennant with a 6-3 victory over the Braves.

The Phillies just need to win one in LA so they can come back home up 3-2.

I was at that game six. Awesome stuff.

As for the Dodgers, they are a bunch of cry babies looking for anything to get them motivated. I guess they made their excuses. I want to know what Bowa and Lopes were saying to each other!

Bowa: "You were out!"
Lopes: "Whatever! I was safe!"

Joe Buck is the sportsworld's answer to Ryan Seacrest, what have we done to deserve being forced to him?

TheGirl said...

Ugh, Joe Buck. I don't know who I hate worse in this series, him, McCarver, or the Dodgers. We muted the TV and listened to Harry's radio broadcast on MLB.com.

furiousBall said...

"Dodgers" is actually German for whale's vagina.

Reverend Paul Revere said...

Someone tell me why the radio broadcast was ahead of the TV last night. We couldn't listen to Franzke and LA and watch at the same time. That sucked.

Maria said...

My only guess is that 5 second delay they have on TV. I just don't know if they use it for sports broadcasts too.

Joe said...

TV has a different delay than radio.
Add to that any lag time you have through your TV's receiver. DVR, HD, and other "add ons" add time to the feed.

As for Manny, I watch most Red Sox game, and he is frequently the last one out of the dugout for bench clearing brawls. There was one earlier this season, pre-trade, when he reached the fray after, after, some guys from the bullpen.

I now have a new reason to hate him.

GM-Carson said...

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm ready for a Dodger ass kickin' tonight.

Phillies in 5.

I say we call up Martial Atrs specialist Rudy Seanez from the FL Instructional League. Just sit Seanez on the bench in a shirt with sleeves a bit too short, just so he can show off his tats. Instead of a red, standard issue belt, give him one of those black, tie in fron types. Instead of a standard baseball cal, give him a rolled up bandana with a Philles "P" in the front.

In short, the Dodgers want trouble? We'll give them trouble.

FYI: According the Phil's radio broadcast, tonight holds the record for most people in attendance at a Dodgers game... ever. And there are STILL tons of empty seats. Pure and simple, that town doesn't deserve a visit to the Classic.

Utley's 3rd strike was way outside and now Joe not getting the corners. Crikey ump! Shake your head, your eyes are stuck.

GM-Carson said...

To be fair the ump has called pitches for both sides well off the plate.

Fatal error by Blanton- walking Furcal to start the 5th.

Utely's GIDP in the 1st really kicked the momentum too, Phils should easily have 3 runs right now.

Maria said...

The umpire's been terrible.

The one person you want up with 1st and 3rd and outs, grounds into a doubleplay. We talk about how the Phillies don't have very good situational hitting and tonight it's on display for ALL to see.

Pedro Feliz scares pitchers, apparently.

C.M.R. said...

well at least this is a better game than last night's crapfest

god bless the wild pitch XD

Maria said...

McCarver is such a dickhead.

Ryan Howard scores and all he can talk about is how Ryan Howard shouldn't have slid and how he almost didn't touch home plate. Thank god for the radio and Harry Kala's sweet voice.

dr. steve said...

I don't know how much of an improvement Jenkins is over Blanton at the plate, but hopefully I'm wrong.

C.M.R. said...

joe buck and tim mccarver both need to run head first into a woodchipper

troy aikman can follow them

GM-Carson said...

Feliz ended up being even worse than expected at the plate this season, but nearly as shitty as current pinch hitter Geoff Jenkins. Wasted money right there.

Thank God for a wild pitch or we'd still be losing.

dr. steve said...

Ok I KNOW Taguchi is not even close to being better than Blanton.

GM-Carson said...

Son of a bitch!

Durbin just got creamed by Casey Blake after the Phils squandered away runs in the top of the inning. The Phils just aren't playing a good game tonight and Manuel is managing a horrible game.

Pinch hitting Feliz, then Jenkins, but Jenkins didn't even bat, he gets pulled for Taguchi...pathetic!

Maria said...

Chad Durbin's in. Solo Homer and bad bad BAD memories of the 4 games in which we got swept.

GM-Carson said...

Durbin is done. Has been done for quite some time, yet here he is pitching in a crucial spot in a crucial game. Guess there's no better option.

GM-Carson said...

Howard is a big fat turd! He just made a ridiculous error on an easy bunt.

C.M.R. said...

ryan howard's defense makes me want to facepalm

GM-Carson said...

This game sucks. It started off so promising, but since the GIDP off of Vic's bat in the 1st it's been downhill. Ryan Howard's defense has killed this team. He may lead the league in homeruns in rbi, but not being able to field your position is just poor form.

C.M.R. said...

screw this game im going to bed

GM-Carson said...

I'm a frontrunner, I'm catching some Z's, Phuck you J-Roll!

BloodStripes said...

VICTOBERINO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope your arse is out of bed Carson.

Yeah!!!!

dr. steve said...

So my friend texts me "I love Shane".

I am texting him back "I LOVE MATT STAIRS"

I never thought I'd say those words. Stairs' home run was so huge, it even got Joe Buck excited. Amazing. AMAZING.

MATT STAIRS!!

BloodStripes said...

Matt Stairs!!!!!

The greatest acquisition in Phillie history.

Phuck yeah. I love this team!!!

Bob D said...

Victorino and Stairs are clutch tonight. Now they have a great chance to go up 3-1!

Oh yeah, I am starting to smell the WS coming to Philly.

Jacobin said...

I'm about ready to vomit. Lidge has struck out two to end the inning, but the umpire missed the call with Manny and cooch couldn't handle the strike out to Paul Lo Duca Jr.

Gah!

SirAlden said...

Lidge got him! In the bottom of the 8th! 3 more outs to go!

BloodStripes said...

Lets go Lidge!!!!!!

Slam it shut.

GM-Carson said...

I went to bed, but never to sleep. I have a tv in the bedroom. Wow, what an inning that was, freakin' sweet! Matt Stairs is a great role player, and Victorino has been amazing in October. Time for Lidge to finish it off. C'mon, lets make it 3-1.

GM-Carson said...

Guess Vic and Stairs' homers were due to the "bandbox"?

SirAlden said...

Let's Put Another One In The Win Column For The Phightin' Phils!!!

One more to go. Phillies in 5.

Jacobin said...

3-1 series lead... oh, this is a sweet year.

BloodStripes said...

Glad you didn't miss it big fella.

What a bloody awesome win. Phils break the road hoodoo between these two teams lately.

GM-Carson said...

Victory is so sweet, especially in that nerve wracking fashion.

BloodStripes said...

Phuck yeah says Dobbs. I love it.

GM-Carson said...

I'll be pissed when that alarm goes off at 5 am, considering its post 12, but it was very much worth it.

Maria said...

I tried to go to sleep but decided to stay up in case of a comeback. Good, no great choice.

I heart Matt Stairs.
