Venue: Miller Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Circumstance: 2-0 Phillies lead over Brewers in a best of 5 series.
Match-Up: Jamie Moyer (16-7, 3.71, 1.33) vs. Dave Bush (9-10, 4.18, 1.14).
As readers of this blog know, I have been calling Jamie Moyer "Grand Pappy" since shortly after his arrival in August of '06. It's meant to be a term of endearment, but I must admit it does not instill much fear. After all, Moyer has pitched marvelously in the clinching game of the NL East the past 2 seasons, sending the Mets home in October blubbering babies. Therefore, I am instituting a more befitting nickname for our staff sage- Moyer the Destroyer. Moyer has the opportunity tonight to clinch the NLDS for the Phils with a mighty pitching performance, and I suspect he will. Moyer is the owner of 246 regular season wins, but he's also been dominate in the postseason racking up a 3-1 record over 5 games started going 29.2 innings with a 2.43 era. A victory tonight in Milwaukee would be sweet, because they can use the champagne of beers brewed nearby for the post-game celebration...roll out the High Life!
WSBGM's love Jamie Moyer. Corey and I have probably dedicated more posts to Grand Pappy than any other Phillie, including Steve Jeltz. Scanning over the archives I've found some sweet relics: Moyer vs. Monahan Cage Match, Thirsty Thursday: Moyer-Yuengling, Antiques Roadshow, and Moyer Bobblehead.
