Losing Ground

The Mets are in Milwaukee and the Phillies are in Washington, each for a 3 game series. The Brewers are fighting for the NL Central and the NL Wild Card, while the Nationals are fighting not to be the worst team in the NL. Yesterday the Mets won and the Phils lost; now 2 games back. Hoping that the Mets lose is no way to go through September, rather the Phils should make life a lot easier by simply taking care of business themselves and winning and forcing the pressure upon New York instead. Winning the next 2 games against the Nats is imperative, and it starts tonight with ace Cole Hamels versus John Lannan.

*Ryan Howard struck out twice yesterday to up his season total to an astronomical 180.

*Infielders Andy Tracy and Mike Cervenak, along with left-handed reliever Les Walrond have also be called up with the expanded September rosters.

*Matt Stairs was 0-2 in his Phillie debut.

*Jimmy Rollins hit his 10th homerun of the season after blasting 30 in his MVP campaign last year.

*Kyle Kendrick continued his post-All Star plummet yesterday by getting battered around for 6 runs in 4 innings. He's now 3-5 with a 6.45 era in the 2nd half.

Batting Utley/Howard in 3rd/4th spots was not working a few weeks ago. Now Faqua had them back to back yesterday.

Why trade Model Dictator for a 1 month 4th OF rental?

Kendrick does need to turn things around or Happ will be getting these starts or the playoffs will feature a 4 man rotation.

Well, thanks Carson. Good morning to you too.

Pull yourselves together, boys. This is the Nationals, not the Cubs.

...oh wait.

if we can get kendrick out of whatever funk he's been in and pat the bat to start hittin' we'll be in good shape.

This team doesn't do well in weekday day games.
After some coffee, I think I'll dig around for facts to back up this perception. And Redding was in their heads long before the first pitch.

The Brewers' bullpen was useless. The fact that Gagne still has a job baffles me.

Skip Kendrick the next time through the rotation and give him a mental break for the final few starts. And Happ. We need to see Happ to know what he's got on the ML level.

Cole tonight. That feels good.

Joe, I think you're right. I'm curious to see what you come up with!

Kendrick just isn't getting the job done. He's young and is in a funk, hopefully he'll pull out of it soon.

Matt Stairs isn't a 1-month rental, he's under contract next season for 1 mil.

Gillick pretty much admits signing Eaton was a mistake. Duh!!!

But Hey, Adam Eaton to the rescue!!!!!!

GM-Carson said...

I've heard Jason Donald might also be getting the call-up.

Adam Eaton better not see a game within winning distance or being blow, aka a 10+ run game.

A reporter should tell Adam Eaton what Gillick says just to see how he responds.

Skip Kendrick the next time through, and tell A.J. Happ for the rest of the season he should prepare as if he is starting in Kendrick's Slot.

Run Kendrick out there, have Happ ready to go, the minute two guys reach base, bring Happ in.

Donald I think is a 40 Man roster issue. Marston and Golson had to be added this fall automatically. It would be nice to see Donald with the team.

Not sure what happened to Kendrick ... it's as if Adam Eaton stole his soul ...

Do they teach the Phillies how to injure catchers in Spring Training?

F'ing Brewers!! A little help would great.

GM-Carson said...

Brewers are pissing me off.

Phils have been taking out a lot catchers over the past 2 years. Jesus Flores, Yadier Molina, Brian McCann, and some other dude I can't remember off the top of my head.

Hey, a 4-0 shutout!
