Rock Out With Your Rooster Out

Last week Corey posted a piece on original gangster Bob Apodaca titled Rock Out With Your Pitching Coach Out, due to the inordinate amount of visits to the mound by the Rockies pitching coach. Today I focus on the age old skill of rocking out with your rooster out, which is exactly what the Phils have been doing over the last week. In the matter of a week span I've gone from watching the Phils as a formality to gaping with amazement waiting for the next game. Chase Utley is awesome, Mr. Awesome. For the second time this season he has put together a streak of 5 straight games with a homer, and leads all of baseball with 21. Pete Happy and Coast-to-Coste also went deep to lead the Phils to a 5-4 victory over phenom Jay Bruce and the Reds. The number 14 also played a factor in the ball game with Vic extending his hit streak to 14 games and Lights-out-Lidge notching save 14. Kendrick even managed to pick up the win (#5) despite having nearly every ball hit hard off of him. Overall, it was a great game and Charlie Manuel did a damn fine job managing...as he's shockingly done for the better part of this season.

*Weezer- Red Album
*The Offspring- Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace

Old buddy J-Mike (Jason Michaels) had a pinch-hit grand slam last night for the Buccos against the Cards that tied the game, and the Pirates went on to win eventually. Pirates are playing much better than expectations so far this season, hovering just below .500.

Bench/part time players are tearing it up: Coste 327/6/17, Dobbs 360/2/17 with yet another pinch hit. Even regulars Feliz 260/8/30 despite another GIDP and Jenkins 288/5/16 have been playing fairly good for most of the season.

Utley is unstoppable... its fantastic to watch... My two year old even asks to watch the phillies they're so good.

Pedro Feliz, after a rough first month, has really upped his game. He's nothing spectacular, but he's a decent guy to run out there in the 7 hole if he can keep the .260 average with pop. His glove has been excellent.

Chris Coste is a story for the ages, man deserves everything he's gotten and more.

Griffey is sitting again tonight. That's bogus. Do the Reds really suck that much, that they need to sit a man on the cusp of 600 homeruns until the team returns home just to sell more tickets?

Is it even fair to give Kendrick a win after that performance?

Jimmy and Vic get on, but are stranded at 2nd and 1st...c'mon fellas, don't let Harrang do you like that.

How can anyone not love Chase Utley? The guy has turned into a great fielder, he has such a sweet swing (ever notice every picture of him swinging looks the same... amazing consistency), he hits for power, is a good base runner, swipes a couple bags, signed a reasonable salary extension last year (note to Ryan Howard and his father), never brags about himself, married a cute wife, and raises money to help animals! I mean, WTF?! How did the Phillies wind up with the perfect storm at second base?

Chase Utley is what is great about baseball. We're witnessing a great man playing great ball right now.

Utley and Burrell have the Phils with a 3-1 lead right now. Eaton pitched very well again. Crowd gave him a standing ovation as he left the field and he acknowledged them. He's looking like the guy we thought we had all along when he was signed.

Wow, that was a close one there at the end with Gordon and Lidge, but Phils win again!

Two down, two to go! Keep beating the Reds!

Great Win, continuing kudos for the sly strategy of coining the term -

Adam Eaton Love Fest, it's magic.

Now! We are burning Tom Gordon, he does not have that many bullets in
the arm, and Lidge as well.

Be Careful!

Phils are philthy. Establishing a lead and staying hot.

Whats going on with Eaton? Pitching well with 3 quality starts and 2 wins in a row. Wow! Good stuff.

Today's game scares me. Era and strikeout leader Edison Volquez going against the Phils and Gordon and Lidge probably aren't available. Guess we'll have to torch the poor S.O.B., he's had a run of good luck that needs to stop anyway...down with Volquez!

Down, down, down with Volq
