Phantasy PhootballBig shout out to...me. I won my English Premier League Fantasy Football League. Numero uno in a league of 136 hosted by my favorite soccer blog, That's On Point. Here is the table, for proof. Maybe I'm writing about the wrong sport.

Miss My Gookie? The Phils traded Reading infielder Travis "Gookie" Dawkins to the White Sox for a player to be named. Will he be missed? No. He contributed only a warm body and a funny name to the Phils organization. I can't believe he only had 16 career major league hits, though. It seems like he's been around forever. Goes to show you what a memorable name will do for you. Maybe I should pick a funny name to post with...

Ol' Dirty BastardoAfter posting a 1.17 ERA in Clearwater, lefty Antonio Bastardo shimmy-shimmy-ya'd his way up to the R-Phils last week and made his first start, with mixed results. He didn't walk a batter and struck out 7, but he also gave up 7 hits, including 3 long balls, and 5 runs in 5 innings. We'll keep an eye out for Bastardo, who should be making his next start against Harrisburg this week.

Series Preview - Atlanta Braves
Ouch, the Braves just got tomahawk chopped by Pittsburgh, losing 3 of 4 along the rivers. But the way the season is going for the Braves, this really isn't a surprise. Sure, the Pirates suck, but the Braves have now only won 5 games away from Turner Field, compared to 14 losses. Luckily, this series is in Philadelphia. Here is how the pitching matchups look.
Game 2 - Myers v. Glavine - Glavine has given up 2 runs or less in 5 of his 6 starts (of course, one was a 0 inning, injury shortened game). Myers, on the other hand, has given up 2 or less runs only twice this year.
Game 3 - Hamels v. James - Our ace needs to come through again...

Braves may suck on the road, but they're trying to counteract that by throwing 3 straight lefties against us...c'mon Jayson Werth!
This is a huge series with Atlanta in my opinion because the Phils need to jumpstart their offense and not slip down to .500 land.
Gookie Dawkins was traded to the ChiSox from Mike Rouse by the way. Rouse is the owner of only 15 MLB hits, so I think the ChiSox got the better part of this deal by 1 MLB hit.
Phils bats to come alive now that they are back home. Gotta jump on Jo Jo early and win. Go Phillies!
Ryan Howard's slump has been getting a lot of media coverage and is all over talk radio in Philly. It'll be interesting to see the type of reaction he gets when he steps to the plate in his first at bat. Hopefully he can keep piecing together at least a hit a game and regain his confidence so he can go on a homerun barrage.
Ole Dirty Bastardo is actually starting tonight...
We need the big man to start cutting sick.
c'mon rhino, time to wake up kid
From MLBTR:
Ken Rosenthal suggests that Brad Lidge would be harder to replace than Pat Burrell, and for that reason the Phillies will make a bigger effort to re-sign him. I imagine Phillies fans would prefer that course of action. The problem? The Phillies have little chance of offering four years, according to Jayson Stark.
From David Murphy of the Philadelphia Daily News-
HEADING INTO today's game against the Braves, the Phillies are 3-6 against National League East competition, losing one series to Washington and two to the Mets.
But with 15 of the next 29 games against division opponents, including six against Atlanta and six against first-place Florida, we should get a better idea of how this incarnation of the Phillies stacks up against their chief playoff rivals.
I'm having one helluva afternoon. First I go to pick up my son (Collier CHASE) from the babysitter to find that my wife thought it to be amusing to dress him in a Braves onesie today (her favorite team). Then during my afternoon run I get bit on the back of the leg by a big-ass black lab and it left a nice black & blue tennis ball size mark. Is this a bad omen for the series starting tonight?
Phils could use a sweep of the Bravos ... it's always nice to bury them early ...
Go Flyers!
Go Ryan! We love you!
What the hell is up with Kendrick? His command is off, keeps missing up and away. A 3-run hole early, not good.
Braves onesie!?! Your kid is going to be scarred! It might be time to make the call to the bullpen on that wife of yours. Just saying...
Put Victorino back in Center FOREVER.
And LEAVE HIM THERE.
GEEZ we almost lost the game.
The Phils are now 1-0 when Carson gets bit by a lack lab and Collier Chase wears and hopefully poops in a Braves onesee. Hey, Carson go for another run tommorow thru the same area.
It's always a good day when the Phillies and and the Braves lose!
The thing with losing Burrell is that there will not be a good selection of right-handed run manufacturing bats available this upcoming off season. And there isn't anyone in the minors to bring up to take his place. We need to hang on to Burrell and Lidge, but I get the usual sick feeling that this team will only try for one of them and will probably come up short on both.
Taking one for the team Carson. You sacrificed your arse and the Phils win. Good job mate.
My kid ended up pissing all over the Braves onesie.
I can't believe the Phils won that game after giving up 3 in the 1st and stranding so many runners.
It's the Phightin's spirit that won out.
Young Chase obviously likes the Phillies. Pissing on the Braves onesie. Too funny. I'm sure thats one wet clothes change you didn't mind. He is obviously a Phils phan. He wouldn't have done that if he was wearing Phillies gear.
Our friends from North Carolina were the ones who bought the Braves stuff. Needless to say, I wasn't all too happy with it.
