One is the Loneliest Number

One is the loneliest number that I've ever seen. 1 is the number of hits the Phils had tonight with Joe Nobody pitching. Season now 2 games old, and 2 losses mounting. Pathetic, terrible, appalling, hopeless, worthless, futile, horrible, horrendous, wasted, awful, dreadful, abysmal, ugly...just plain bad baseball (with the exception of Hamels' outing). Tune in tomorrow at 1:05 for another for another demoralizing game.

Hamels really locked in after the 2nd, unfortunately the Phils bats never woke up

Stuff just isn't right when Pedro Feliz gets your only hit.

I'd add "sickening" to the list of adjectives. That was pathetic.

the worst part about it is that we've lost complete opposite ways two nights in a row. first game, offensive outburst, horrible pitching. second game, awesome pitching, horrible offense. it'd be nice if we can find a happy medium.

Hello April.

"Happy medium", now that's funny. This is classic Phils right now. Score big but give up bigger. Pitch small but hit smaller. Sickening is right.

i wish this game would have been on in the h-burg area, it sounds like an excellently pitched game from both starters.

it's disappointing that the phils wasted a great start from hamels and couldn't get more than a hit at home against an average pitcher. but it should be expected.
we all should have been prepared for a start like this. did anyone really think they would come out of spring training hot? it hasn't happened in any year manuel has managed. i question whether his laid back style doesn't prepare the players for the jump in intensity when the season starts. but then i think, the players should be ready to play and perform against inferior competition whether the manager is manuel or big bird.

Washington now 3-0??
Wow!
I'll root for Moyer to dominate now with his 34MPH fastball and a 17MPH slowball. Sounds like a long game.

Another 2 weeks of this and Carson will be on that suicide watch. Also he maybe watching those Baltimore games regulary since the Phils don't exsist on thier cable out there.

They will win today, they have to.

It's too early to get too demoralized. They'll win today.

Though it is disconcerting that the non-Hamels highlight may have been when the Phanatic and Smiley the Pig made a surprise appearance in the broadcast booth.

Mike- thanks for trying to encourage me, but I am demoralized, I hate starting the season like this.

corey your not getting the free mlb extra innings this week? all comcast subscribers in philly are.. crappy loss only because if we only hit half as well as the first game we would of won.

I feel a lot better about the bullpen after reading that Seanez is an Ultimate Fighter.

If they run off four wins, the 0-2 start won't burn in my stomach like caustic bile quite so much. Let me put it this way... I'd like to see this team at 7-3 or 6-4 after 10 games at the least.

GM-Carson said...

My problem is that I remember big losses like the past 2 and they haunt me all season long.

A win is a win, and I'll take it. Werth just needed to keep the bat on his shoulder and he did. Now let's sweep the next series!
