Go Phillies, Oh Phillies!

The 2008 Philadelphia Phillies are going to be like Batman and Robin. We all know Batman is the Dark Knight who kicks ass with his karate, gadgets, and futuristic vehicle. Robin is the the tag-along that gets in the way and hinders Batman's pursuit of superhero greatness. Batman is awesome, Robin sucks.

The Batmen- With a nucleus of talented superstars like Chase Utley, Ryan Howard, and Jimmy Rollins any offense is going to be good. Mix in Shane Victorino, Pat Burrell, Geoff Jenkins, Pedro Feliz, and Chooch Ruiz and you got the best offense in the NL. There's some talent on the pitching staff too, as Brett Myers and Cole Hamels are a formidable 1-2 punch at the top of the rotation and Brad Lidge has been a great closer in the past, but other than that no real excitement in the pitching department.

The Robins- Clay Condrey, Tom Gordon, Adam Eaton, Tim Lahey, and Chad Durbin could quite honestly threaten to drop this team to .500 level. Mix in questions about Kyle Kendrick, Jamie Moyer, JC Romero, and Ryan Madson and you got yourself the classic "you're only as strong as your weakest link" scenario.

1) who the fuck is tim lahey?

2) i hear former phil david bell will be playing the part of robin on an off-broadway production of "batman and robin, bff"

3) bold move including mendoza-hugging LF pat burrell in the "good" category. that's a super jinx if i ever saw one.

Lahey is the piece of shit Gillick claimed yesterday. He's a converted catcher now right handed reliever that hasn't really been good in the minors, only has 3 Triple A innings, and is a Rule 5'er...just what the bullpen needs right?

You take that back about Burrell being a mendoza-hugger. He's clearly WAY better then that. He hugs .250 not .200!

is batman two handing his junk there?

What a waste of an offense on a couple of good pitchers mixed in a large number of so-so pitchers. Throw in a few horrible (Eaton, Gordon) you have the potential of a sub 500 finish.

However we all hope that Lidge, Madson, Romero, Moyer, and Benson will all step up and do well. And they actually have the talent and have showed the promise this year to do that and make this team a contender.

Feliz looks ready to hit 40Hrs this year while Ruiz may just hit 40 doubles.

I don't care that the past 2 games against Toronto meant nothing, only 4 runs in 2 games at the Cit is a shame for this offense. I'm predicting yet another shitty April, but this time we won't catch up.

Rock solid addition to the bullpen Tim Lahey gave up 4 consecutive hits when he entered the game in relief today. I hate you Pat Gillick!

A nice Phillies jersey is on display on my Phillies blog, though I bet you won't be seeing her at the ballpark. Check out my post at:

I have downgraded my win total for the Phils as of today, 83 is my number given the fact that pitching is their main obstacle in the middle relief and that's what wins ballgames for you.

Happy Sunday to all the Philly Faithful.

Let's put another one in the Win Column for the Phightin' Phils!

100 times for R-Roll.

Remember his 20th Triple on the last day of the season last year?
