Goodbye and Good Riddance

My favorite outfield reserve, Chris Roberson, has been sent to the Baltimore Orioles for cash. Actual face value of the transaction $3.52 after taxes...ouch! I gotta say I believe we robbed the O's blind here. After all, Roberson would have simply been released at the end of spring training and any team could have claimed him off of waivers. Basically, we got enough money to buy a box of Cracker Jack with a few cents left over to give to the bum on the corner. Seriously though, Roberson just doesn't appear that he'll pan out at the MLB level. He's now 28 years old, has no power, doesn't take a walk, and really can't hit all that well either... a.k.a career minor leaguer. In 69 at bats for the Phils during 06-07 he has one extra base hit and one walk, that sucks! The only positive attributes he has are his defense and speed, but he didn't utilize either while in Philly. Maybe Chris will breakout at Inner Harbor and make me regret ever making fun of him, but until then goodbye and good riddance!

i Think the "FREE" toy in the box of crackerjacks would have been worth more than roberson was worth, maybe when he goes to the o's he'll get one of those giant boxes of crackerjacks you can find as a novelty gift,.....maybe there will be a pair of sunglasses in it!!... good riddance is right!!!

Before the Atlanta Game, the Titanic Atlanta Game, there were two games where Chris Roberson saved each game in the late innings with unbelievable catches.

Good luck to you Chris! May you make as much as Marlon Byrd. May you date, bed, wed, and smoke with Whitney Houston.

Thanks for those catches.

I also see this as the pre-nup to the Eric Bedard , Melvin Mora: accept the salary dump trade to the Phightin's...

"Boy I miss... Let's put another one in the Win Column for the Phightin'Phils!!!"

I'm glad not all Phillies fans are as bitter as I am...the optimist SirAlden.

Your tea is balanced GM Carson: sweet and salty.

Quite unlike the bitter bile of folks who are expecting 100 losses. Mad at the pain they had to endure 95-2000, I imagine what these folks will be talking about in their nursing homes if they ever go through a divorce.

I also posted the answer to your "do you live at home with your mother" question.

SirAlden- didn't mean to imply you live at home with your parents, I was just wondering if you never slept. I have sleep problem and that's why I sometimes post at crazy early hours in the morning.

Ah... Chris Roberson. Another "can't miss" Phillie's prospect that missed. I'm surprised Ed Wade didn't want to pick this guy up since, Bourn and Roberson were supposed to be the speedy outfield future with the slugging, speedster Marlon Byrd.

Good move by the front office. It's not often you flush the toilet and someone else gives you money for doing it.

"Good move by the front office. It's not often you flush the toilet and someone else gives you money for doing it."...that's a great line, and oh so true about Roberson.

The Organization was just being Classy, giving him a chance, he could evolve as a Bourne/Chavez 5th outfielder, works hard, but seems to have focus issues. He reminded me of a pretty good gozzlehead called Micky Rivers who used to play CF for the Yankees during the lat 70s.

He really did save two games, and lost one in Atlanta with 3 mis-cues in one game.
