Thirsty Thursday

Eric Bruntlett - Bud Light

Bud Light is the number one selling beer in the United States of America. You can't go anywhere without seeing the King of [Light] Beers: bars, parties, tailgates, family reunions, wedding receptions. It's ubiquitous, kind of like utility infielders. Every team has one of these guys: Willie Harris, Alex Cintron, Tony Graffanino, Miguel Cairo, D'Angelo Jimenez, Matt Kata, Geoff Blum, Marco Scutaro. You have to have a utility infielder, just like you have to have light beer at a party so the chicks have something to drink. The Phils brought Abe Nunez (Coors Light)to the party last year and now they have Eric Bruntlett (Bud Light). Sure, it's a slight improvement, but it's nothing to get excited about, just another light beer that really should only be taken out of the cooler when there's nothing else left.

it goes to show you how tough hitting MLB pitching really is. some of the names you've got listed are AMAZING fielders. incredibly athletic in the field but low 200s hitters at the plate. that's why you have to give it up to guys that have elevated both parts of their game (a lá J Roll)

J-Roll is friggin' awesome. I never thought he'd turn into such a complete all-around player...glad I was wrong.

John McDonald is another example of awesome fielding shitty hitting untility infielder, same goes for our old boy Nick Punto.

I like Bruntlett (Bud Light) just because he isn't No-Hit.

The Phils plucked Shane Youman off waivers from the Buccos. He was good in the minors, and has had times of success in the majors. He could be a long man in the bullpen. He is a lefty too.

When drinking, I prefer Coors Light over Bud Light and both over Miller Lite bilge water. For the Phillies, I prefer anyone over No Hit Nuni. I'm glad he's gone. I haven't heard if he has signed with anyone. I hope he does as I don't want him wearing the bloodstripes next year.

Melvin Mora's name is surfacing in some rumors for the Phils. Maybe by dumb luck the O's would swap bad contracts- Adam Eaton for Mora. Gives them a shitty veteran starting pitcher and us an aging and skill declining 3rd baseman.

Good ol' Nutsack Face Ed Wade signed former Phils utility infielder Tomas Perez for the Asstros.

What a nutsack.

I cannot believe someone is so stupid to think that mail room boy Wade, should be running anything with moves like Tomas.

I guess Houston needs a shaving cream VP.

A source close to Geoff Jenkins has told the author that the Padres have extended him a two year deal, worth 16-20 million dollars.

Wow. Way too much.

The Phillies are interested in Mora for their third base vacancy, according to Steve King. I don't think the Phils would have to give up much in the way of prospects to get him; they could probably send over a bag of baseballs if they're willing to take on the entire contract.

Hopefully the salary dump will include a shot at LHP Bedard, ala RHP Beckett and Lowell 3B who was coming off 2 down years.

Speaking of which - I do like the new Bud Light "Dude" commercials ... still don't like the beer, though.
