Speech Of The Year

This years GM-y for "Speech Of The Year" goes to...

Flusterated!!! If that isn't award worthy, I don't know what is.

Actually, he gets two awards this year. Although there was no WSBGM's back in '05 when Charlie was hired, he would have won the award that year also for this speech given at the press conference for his hiring.
I think... I, I think that Jimmy... I think Jimmy, uh... he's been here two years now, and I think that he also has to, like, you gotta get to know him, and I think the more... the longer he's here and the fact that, you know, like, uh... once he feels like he's settled in and everything, I think that he will become more of a voice in our clubhouse... uh, do I?... uh, Jimmy is gonna be a... he's gonna be a leader, but he leads by example, by the way that, uh, the better he hits, the better leader he becomes, I, and, uh, and I think the more he hits, uh, of course you gonna write more about him, so, I think that Jimmy's, uh, he'll lead by example, really.

We should really ease up on Manuel. I recently did a interview with someone from the Good Phight who thinks we're A-Holes for poking fun at the R-Tards speech impediment.

Well you're not a-holes (at least not for that) Chollie is a r-tard.

If you smooth out the sentences for him, what you have left is a manager, going to bat for his players.

Players appreciate that and come to the park ready to play up to their abilities.

Aside from Wes Helms who got old in the speed of his swing real fast, the catcher who felt he deserved 2 million dollars more because he almost had it from Toronto before he signed with us, and he who shall remain nameless the batters all did well.

If there is an award for that Manuel Wins it hands down. At least for batters.

me, an a-hole? how unfair. it is very flusterating to be so misunderstood. me and bill conlin...

i don't really care about the way he speaks, the players do seem to like him a lot. it's not like he's the president.

I'm glad the players like him, and I have and will continue to give him praise for being a helluva hitting instructor...but when it comes to strategy- de-de-de!

i'm glad he speaks the way he does, it's entertaining. i'm sure glad he doesn't talk like andy reid...

It may be entertaining at times (more so to poke fun at), but I find it painful usually.

Since we're talking about speeches, I assume everyone has seen that Jimmy Rollins is following up his "team to beat" proclamation of last year by saying the Phillies will win 100 games this upcoming season... does he know about some free agent moves/trades that the rest of us don't know about?

I'm surprised he's not a dean at a local university ...

The Phillies have announced that Tom McCarthy, who spent the last two seasons as a play-by-play announcer for the Mets on WFAN, is ‘returning to his roots’ as a member of the Phillies broadcasting team.

McCarthy was a broadcaster for the Phillies from 2001 through the 2005 season, and also hosted the team’s pre- and post-game shows.

McCarthy, as quoted in a team press release…

“I’m excited to be back in Philadelphia. I enjoyed my two years with WFAN and the Mets. Both are first-class, as are the Phillies. I’m looking forward to returning and can’t wait for spring training to get here.”

I live down here in the PineBarrens of Jersey, so most here and even myself to some point have speech/speach impairments. Some have more at certain times of the day and some start thiers when they awaken. Some like myself; are natural from just living here all my life and need not any Thirsty Thursday Special to get to that point. Good to have McCarthy back - it should be interesting to hear him after being around all those "New Yorkers" for so long.

I wonder how many nasty emails I will now get? Or maybe banned by Corey and Carson themselves?

rumors say the Phils are near a deal for Wolf and not likely to sign Kudaro as he wants to goto Seattle.

bob d, you are officially banned for on week (3 days for having a speech impairment, and another 4 for admitting you live in jersey.) be like ricky williams or pacman jones, and use your banned time wisely to help others...

Kuroda wants way more money than the Phils will likely offer, leaving Wolf and his likely 1 year commitment more enticing.
