Hate Me Now

Over the past 2 seasons here at WSBGM's Corey and I, along with our phaithphul readers, have spewed much hate across this blog. Most hate was well deserved, for example- Adam Eaton and Gavin Floyd for their craptitude for pitching, David Bell for his H-Mo-ness, and No-Hit Nunez for, well duh, not hitting. Some hate was simply due to rivalry/opposition- Paul LoDuca, Milton Bradley, Billy Wagner, and the Queen of England. Then there was some hate that was miscast- Pat Gillick is obviously the best GM ever, Charles Fuqua Manuel is a superior strategist on the diamond and in the dugout, and Rod Barajas is an All-Star caliber catcher...my ass!

I'm willing to let my hate go, at least for the first part of October. Why? After 14 long grueling heartbreaking seasons the Phillies are phinally in the playoffs again. At the beginning of the season I predicted 92 wins and a World Series Championship. I may have been 3 wins shy, but the latter can still hopefully come true. The city of Philly and all the Phils Phans are ready for victory...lets get ready to rumble! I love this team!

Nas- Hate Me Now
You can hate me now.
But I won't stop now.
Cause I can't stop now.
You can hate me now.
But I won't stop now.
Cause I can't stop now.
You can hate me now.
You can hate me now!

Besides the 92 wins and World Series Champs prediction, I also went out on a limb and said Victorino would swipe 40-50 bases at the beginning of the season and J-Roll score 150 runs. Well, I came damn close in each prediction and if it weren't for injuries I think each would have came true. *Rollins wasn't injured, but he was batting 3rd on and off for some time due to others injuries.

Two surging teams to meet in the first round of the playoffs Rockies vs Phillies. It feels good to be here after those 14 long years of being a Phillies fan. The last few years have been the hardest as they came so close each year yet fell short in the last few days of the season.

To win this series our big boys are going to have to continue to come up big- J-Roll, Chase, and Howard all the way!

And don't forget about the Phils true MVP (Most Valuable Pat)... You're my boy Burrell!

Pat Gillick is a genius and the second best Phillies GM ever who has us set to bid for Santana and Cabrera, and Charles Fuqua Manuel is a terrible strategist but possibly the only Philles Manager who could have kept everyone upbeat through all the hardships (some self inflicted) this year.

Rod Barajas is an average back up catcher who noone would have paid any attention to if not for the slings and arrows of outragous fortune that "feel good story" everyman Chris Coste endured.

The Inquirer is reporting it is likely that Adam Eaton will be left off of the playoff roster. The one concern they noted is Ruiz's injury and whether or not that would keep him from playing. If it does, we'll be stuck with Rod Barajas since LaForest isn't eligible for the playoff roster.

Tim Kurkjian has a preview of the Phillies-Rockies series over on ESPN. He picks the Phils to win in 5 games... personally, I'd like to see them win in three!

Phillies in Five

Here's a priceless quote on Pat Burrell by John Kruk:

"The transformation of Pat Burrell has been incredible to me,'' Kruk said. "But it took those guys to get out and these guys to come in before the real guy came through. You can see he cares. You can see he tries. And people love Pat Burrell now.

"I mean, besides the 17- to 25-year-old women."

That comes from a longer story about how the 1993 Phillies feel about the current squad. It's a good piece, you should check it out.

I think the Phils take the Rocks in 4.

I sure as hell hope Eaton is left off the playoff roster.

SirAlden- what type of crazy pills have you been taking? Gillick got lucky this season, and contrary to the voices in your head the Phils are not set up to make a run at Johan Santana or Miguel Cabrera.

From Papa Smurf himself (aka Tim Kurkjian)- The first assignment will go to Rockies' Game 1 starter Jeff Francis, who won 17 games this year. But in two starts against the Phillies this season, he allowed 20 hits and 14 earned runs in 8 1/3 innings.

*Remember though- Wheels thinks Jeff Francis is a good looking lefty...oh so gay!

The Phils officially left Adam Eaton off the postseason roster. They're going to carry 10 pitchers for the first round. Fun fun!

Gillick made this happen GM Carson.

Iguchi - Lohse - Dobbs - Werth

Making spots for Howard, Victorino, Bourne.

He tried to add to the starting pitching and it blew up in his face.

He refused to give up draft picks for crappy relievers, so now we actually have things to trade for Santana - Carruco Savery Outman Drabek Carpenter; things to trade for Cabrara - Cardenes (Florida Boy), Constanzo. And he has 40 million dollars per to drop.

And Gillick got rid of ass lick Lieberthal the cancer of the club house.
