Thirsty Thursday: Beer Pong!

Aaron Rowand - Natural Light - Natty Light is really cheap, costing far less then 10 bucks for a suitcase. It is weak in taste, battling Coors Light for the winner of "Beer That Tastes Most Like Water." It contains about as much alcohol as water too, so it is relatively pointless to drink. Doesn't sound too much like Aaron Rowand, does it? Well, the only good use for Natty Light(because of it's water-like nature) is beer pong. And based on the pic below, I think Rowand would appreciate the association.

Reasons Why Yesterday Sucked:
*1.5 back became 2.5 back, with little time left.
*The Mets, Padres, and the Diamondbacks all won, but the Phillies did not.
*Our offense was nonexistent.
*Our pitching was decent last night aside from the undeservedly much hyped Brett Myers.

Damn, this blog is dead today...does that mean the Phils playoff hopes are also dead?

I think the Phils went something like 1-25 with runners in scoring position over the last two games. It's especially maddening that they got good pitching last night, only to drop the game.

That being said, they did what they needed to do (win the series) and now they face the Nationals. If they keep winnings series, they'll wind up at 89 wins. That may or may not be enough (would the damn Padres lose a game or two?!?). Hopefully the Washington woes will not continue this year.

The Houston Astros have a new GM in Ed Wade.

Brett Myers didn't pitch horribly...he gave up a little infield single that apparently replays showed Cairo was out. Then a gay little bouncer through Rollins and Nunez. If Werth didn't bobble the ball they might have had him at home...same with Coste, he coulda thrown out Cairo if he handled the ball well. The loss cannot be put on Myers.

I said it before and I will say it again. Myers is miscast in the closer/relief role. Now last night with an infield single, stolen base, and a bloop hit wasn't a bad outing but he is a better pitcher when he starts. Many times I had seen him get stronger as a game goes on and that is were his strength is.

Ed Wade Houston GM? Hmmmm. Maybe he will trade for all the dumpy prospects that he drafted.

Also...the playoff hopes aren't done boys!!!!!!!!!

Skeeter- I wasn't trying to blame Myers for last night's loss. I'm just sick and tired of all the hype he gets as this lights-out closer. He has something like 15 career saves, so I don't think we should count him as a sure when closing games. To be honest, I'm still pissed he's our closer, and unless he posts a sub 3.00 era with a 92%+ save rate, he's not top-of-the-line and shouldn't be referred to as such.

As a college student I am very disgusted with your comments towards my beloved natty light. It might taste like water to some, but its alcohol content is just fine. And that's an awesome arm band for Rowand to be rocking.

Holy Hell, Fat Ted lives! I thought you had vanished brotha. Nice to have you back.

Natty Light is great for the college crew or a cheap bastard.

Carson...I do agree about all the "he's the next great closer" talk. I don't know where I want him in 2008.

although I know where I don't want him...next to my wife (even though I'm not married)

Ahhhhh....it is good to be back here

I could use a wife too, though she cannot be anything like my last three girlfriends (well, she can be as attractive as them, just not as N-U-T-S). And then I will also agree that I don't want Myers near her... or Pat Burrell for that matter.

Washington was a killer late last season, we need to get the job done this time around! C'mon Phils, swat the damn 'Nats!

Maybe Wade will trade Oswalt or Qualls to the Phils for a Proven Veteran? Like Nunez.

Damn Padres won again. Guess the Phillies will just have to win the division.

Phire up Phils!!!

Linep looks good tonight. Back to its old self.

"its alcohol content is just fine." - maybe i have the tolerance above that of a female midget, but to me, it's freaking weak.

Sack-face Wade, back to ruin anothe organization...

Rowand will be making quite a bit more next year ... here's to hoping that Natty Light doesn't raise prices.

BloodStripes said...

Fuck yeah, Werth it all the way. Huge bomb.

C'mon Phillies!!!!

BloodStripes said...

What a crazy day. Watching the Phils and mets up and down. Man.

Mets collapsing, go you fish.

BloodStripes said...

Game PHillies.

After a 4 run ninth to take the lead more mets errors and shit pitching are gonna blow it, they are shit scared.

Phish win!

Jacobin said...

The Phils come from behind once again! And the lousy Marlins rally in the ninth to put their game against the Mets into extra innings... Mets lose! 1.5 back in the division again.

What could make it better? How about a Padres loss... oh damn, they've won again. That's 7 straight for the Padres. I'm getting pretty damn sick of them at this point.

Jacobin said...

Hmm... Atlanta has won five in a row too. Someone tell that team their season is over so they lay down and play dead when they face the Phils next week.

GM-Carson said...

I still surprised the Phils came back and won that game. Lohse pitched like shit, but the bullpen was awesome and the offense fought back.

J.C. Romero for closer next year... Myers back in the rotation.

GM-Carson said...

J.C. Romero is what I like to call effectively wild...no thanks on the closer idea for that reason.

twistedwristah said...

I see Romero as a diamond in the rough. He's wild, sure, but can be down right nasty when he's on. And he's got the charisma that a closer needs... Myers is too fragile in my mind.
