Houston We Have A Nutsack

The retards over in Houston, Texas who make the decisions for the Astros thought it would be wise to hire ex-Phils GM Ed Wade. Wade did a lot wrong, but little right while in Philly. Ask any true Phillies fan what they think about Ed Wade and they'll probably just give you the finger and walk away. Corey had these kinds words to say about him in the past- "If anyone can give Joe Carter and losing a World Series a run, it's Ed "Mutha-Freakin" Wade. Every time I see a picture of this guy, I want to vomit. I don't know if it is because not since Gary Gaetti has a face looked so much like a scrotum or because of his complete inability to make a decent trade or free-agent signing for 7 years (except Jim Thome.) Either way, he's human ipecac." Enjoy the pain Houston, you've got nobody to blame but yourselves.

She's crafty - she's always down.

She's crafty!

9 Lives?:
*With only 9 games remaining in the season, the Phils are doing their best to sneak into the playoffs. Thanks to the Marlins late inning heroics against the Mets, the Phils now are at 1.5 back in the East. Our state buddies the Pirates dropped a 4 game set against the Padres though as San Diego has now won 7 in a row and have a 2.5 game lead for the Wild Card.

*J.C. Romero has been an excellent addition to this bullpen, and I hope Patty G looks into resigning him.

*Kyle Lohse sucked for 2 innings, but the bullpen was good for 7. However, the offense is what won the game last night...thank you Jayson Werth!

The Mets just have to completely fall apart and the Phillies really can't afford to lose any games to the Nats or Marlins.

Another reason we have to "thank" Scrot-Face Wade- (from Phillies.com) "I definitely thank Ed Wade for hiring me and giving me a chance to manage again. He showed a lot of trust in me. I got to know his personality that was hidden in public, and I think he's a different kind of person than people realize. I think he's very loyal. He was loyal to the Phillies." --Manuel, on Wade, who hired Manuel first as a special advisor to the GM in 2003, then as manager to replace Larry Bowa after the 2004 season.

*I hate Manuel!!!

Does anyone have that video of the Phillies celebrating the Mets loss last night? I seem to be the only one who hasn't seen it.

2 Wins Against The Cards - CHECK!

4 More Wins Against The Nationals

2 Wins Against The Braves

9 Wins -- 89-63 6-3 .667

Will 89 now be enough?

GM-Carson said...

Sir Alden- I don't think 89 wins will be enough. Right not it feels like the Phils have to win the last 9 games to make it into the playoffs. I know that's probably not the case, because the law of averages suggests the Padres will lose here soon, but it feels that way nonetheless. Safest thing to do is just WIN!

If the Phillies go 6-3, and the Mets go 5-5, they'll be tied at 89 wins. I'd like the Phillies' chances in a one-game playoff against the Mets.

re Wade: Its obvious that Drayton McLane and Tal Smith will be calling all shots as Wade is a lackey.

Amazing how the mood changed last night. Around 8:00 it was "Fuck,
the Padres just swept, Glavine has a 3-0 lead, the Phils are down 6-2, the bats have gone cold, the bp will have to throw 7 innings innings, the Mets will be 4 up in the loss column, Eaton will be pitching tomorrow night while the Mets have Paydro on the hill". A few hours later, its "We are right back in it, pick up one more game this weekend and its a virtual tie". Seriously, the Mutts just keep throwing the Phils a lifeline, if not trying to hand the division to them.

GM-Carson said...

The Mets really are starting to "crumble". On Baseball Tonight and Sports Center they've been showing clips of the Mets and they look stressed out and about to fall apart...here's to hoping they feel the pressure and fall by the wayside giving room for the Phils to slip into the NL East lead.

Eaton pitching tonight does suck though. I seriously HATE him. By the time he's done in Philly he'll rank up there with David H-Mo Bell and Rob Ducey as one of my most hated Phils of all-time.

I'm sticking with what I've been saying for a while. 90 wins should get them in, and 88 wins would give them a shot at it. But getting to 90 isn't an easy task. Of course the Mets could go on a crazy win streak and the Padres could never lose again, but I think 90 puts you in the playoffs.

If we get in the playoffs, it could be interesting. The Phils have shown they are a team that could sweep or get swept. Who knows? I just want to see them get a chance.

Here's an honest, yet disturbing quote from Rube Amaro Jr., assistant to the General Manager:

"The most impressive thing has been their pure desire to win baseball games - I guess perseverance is the best word. Obviously, when you talk about championship-caliber clubs, you talk about teams that have tremendous pitching. We don't have that. It's no secret - we don't have that."

GM-Carson said...

If the Phillies make it into the playoffs I think they are the team to beat. I'm being serious, if the Phils get into the playoffs I believe they'll win the World Series.

Hell will freeze over, pigs will fly, Charlie Manuel will grow a brain, and David Bell will become straight.

the ass-tros hired ed wade as gm??

i guess i don't have to worry about them in the national league again for the next 10 years. hahaha

All this drama at the end of the season. I just hope it's going to turn out with a different ending than previous seasons. I'm loving the drama with the Mets recently. They are about to blow a huge lead in record time and they're cracking before our eyes. A-Hole, Billy Wagner, is showing his true colors as he was unavailable during last night's late inning blow-up. He runs his mouth, makes excuses, and continues to crumble under pressue. F-U Mets, F-U Billy Wagner!

SirAlden said...

First let me state that I hate Wade the Most and Loath the idea of Amaro being our next GM.

Let me take the usual Devil's Advocates View.

Let's say you really really want to work as a chef in your town, and the next town over is 83 miles away. Next, lets say there are only 3 resturants whose owners are named Montgomey,Giles, and Buck.

Wanting to be a chef in this town, not having the option to start a new resturant, and you do not want to lose your joint custody arraingement and never see your kids, what do you do?

You brown-nose your boss, so you can have a job, you try to do your best, but your culinary style, has to match the biscuits and gravy and lots of cheap flour to increase profit style of your owner.

It means alot that even though we are terminal cry-babies, (having endured 2 decades of fielding a AAA team, and now 6 out of 7 years of near misses) however, the rest of the baseball fan world is very jealous of what we do have.

An Excellent, Excellent Core Team.

So because of this Wade is given the second chance I never thought a PR hack would ever get, with the world seeing him as an excellent "talent evaluator", because of Rollins, Utley, Howard, and Hamels.

So was his ineptitude in some small measure, caused by Montgomery, Giles, Buck?

With a different Ownership Group would Ruben Amaro, be the designated lying about injuries Flack Hack Catcher?

One wonders. I do believe that we all do not honor what we have, but I forgive us because of the 20 years of frustration. I believe that Amaro as a Spanish Speaker could kick some but with the right owner whose marching orders were far different, And, I still believe Wade's destruction of our minor leagues, caving to Abreu, and Burrell in contract talks, put us so seriously behind the 8-ball, that only a Houdini could have extracated us (Gillick).

Maybe Wade will change, maybe Amaro will bring the Caribean Flavor back to the Pirate's (after all that is the best possible Caribean Baseball team name), and sign a Clemente, and Manny Alou or two, so the Pirates could at least take one of 4 from the Padres.

Fan's of other longer suffering teams, would give their eye teeth to have our home grown talent.

Hence Wade now has a job, and Amaro may - with the right owner, not have to be a step and fetch-it to keep his job.

Jacobin said...

Burrell, Rollins, and Howard have hit homers so far! We're doubled up on the 'Nats 6-3!

Lousy Mets are up 8-4 on the Fish though. Here's hoping for another collapse by the queens of Queens.

Jacobin said...

There's another win for the Phils! 84-70 on the season with 8 to play... 2.5 back in the wild card and 1.5 back in the division... can we play three games better than the Padres over the last 8, and for that matter can we play 2 games better than the Mets over that same stretch? Those bastards need to start losing!!!

Maria said...

Well hopefully that Marlins game keeps going and they come out swinging. They still 4 innings to score in. It'd be nice to only be 1/2 a game back.

Who's replaced the bullpens with guys that can actually pitch? Geary was so solid--throwing strikes and not walking anybody. Is Brett Myers going to be available tomorrow?...he's pitched in like 5 straight games.

Jacobin said...

Mets win, but the Padres finally drop a game! 1.5 back in both races... just keep winning Philadelphia, just keep winning!

SirAlden said...

8 to go 1.5 back in both races. Pardres finally lose.

Steady as she goes...

Steady as she goes...

GM-Carson said...

SirAlden- I'm not sure if you're trying to do a White Stripes impersonation with "steady as she goes" or a Dustion Hoffman Rainman impersonation with "excellent, excellent core team".

Only 8 games left...holy crap! 1.5 in both races. That 2nd number is starting to seem bigger and bigger as that first number shrinks.
