Phils win! Phils win! Phils win! Phils win! That makes 4 games in a row with ace Cole Hamels going tonight trying to make it 5 straight victories for the Phightins.
Props to Fence-Face Rowand for gunning a man out at the plate saving a run, and collecting 3 hits with the most important one being a game winning homerun in the bottom of the 8th with 2 outs. As Sarge would say "clutchin' up"!~Carson

I hope we hang on to Rowand, he gives a crap about the game and he's out there bustin' tail every night for us. How about that six fingered pregnant lady in the ninth? I couldn't believe that was the same pitcher I've been watching all season long.
She has been doing a great job as closer. She's been very valuable to the Phils this year. I'm sure more than anyone expected. She's great. She ought to watch it up there on the mound. Don't want to hurt the little tike.
Speaking of little tikes. When is lefty due Carson. In time for a PHils playoff game?
News: Myers may be activated on friday. Things coming together for the Phillies. Big game coming up. Gotta get the high 5. Then after that we owe to Mrs 6 Fingers to win another so she can high 6 everyone.
Go King! Go Phils!
Mrs. GM-Carson is due September 2nd. By then, hopefully the Phils are in the thick of a playoff race.
6-Finger-Ant has done far better than expected. He hasn't be lights out, but he certainly has done an admorable job.
Wow! Not long now bro. Becoming a dad is cool. I hope Mrs GM and our future Phillie ace are well. Good times ahead.
A great point about the reality of trading for quality pitching...
Courier Post
"The idea of trading Rowand is kind of dumb, since only a contender would take him given his age and salary and contenders rarely give back quality pitching. It's also a dumb idea because Rowand does so much to hold the whole thing together."
"He's a huge part of our offense, a huge part of our defense, and he's a big presence in the clubhouse," Chase Utley said. "He's a gamer. He plays the game the right way.
"I'm glad he's on our team."
Congrats on your up coming fatherhood GM Carson.
Make sure the tyke Switch hits; 200 strokes from each side of the plate each day, make a shelf in the nursery up high for all the bobbleheads, and make sure you pick up the smallest version of the Phantic for the crib.
OH! and don't forget to continue to tell Mrs. GM Carson how sexy she looks.
An outfield assist to home plate, scored 3 runs and hit the game winning home run.
Completely stud night for him. He should have Brazillian super models massaging his balls in the clubhouse for that effort.
That's My take.
Carson, tie your little one's right hand to his side. You'll make him a lefty yet!
I keep telling my family that my son is going to be a lefty. I joke that maybe I'll tie his right arm behind his back or that he'll fall and break his arm (a la Billy Wagner style). In all honesty, I'll be happy with him no matter what and will be extra excited if he ends up liking and playing baseball and rooting for the Phils. You all must remember that my wife roots for the evil Braves...lets hope she hasn't been sending him to many internal womb messages.
you dont have to torture the little guy to make him a lefty. rich hill of the cubs tought himself to throw lefty when he was 12. it's just practice
and thanks again for diluting the atlanta braves bloodlines. there are a lot of mets chicks in north jersey where i live and i'm doing my best on them.
i like rowand. he's been awesome. i think he's a good guy, but he's also in a contract year, and we can't underestimate that motivation. remember the last two years he was kinda lousy. i DO NOT want to trade him, but if he's going to cost more than 7-8 mil/season after this year, i'd be just as happy to let him walk. at least then we'd get the draft picks that siralden creams over in every post!
don't tie the kids arm to make a lefty then you'll have a todd marinovich on your hands.. but yeah you could teach him to throw left.
Like I said yesterday, I'd go 3 years 21 million for Rowand. Anything more would be too risky. I greatly underestimated his value to this team at the beginning of the season, as he is an essential member to this potent offense.
From FoxSports- On Saturday, Philadelphia assistant general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. was in attendance when Twins prospect Kevin Slowey, currently with Class AAA Rochester, faced Ottawa. The Phillies might set club records for offense this season, but they badly need pitching. Pat Burrell (.249, 12 home runs and 46 RBI) could be available, but he's making over $13 million this season and Philadelphia would have to eat most of that salary.
*I'm not in favor of trading Burrell if we have to eat a substancial portion of his contract.
The test from hell is over... now I just have to wait three months to see if I passed the damn thing. Blah, I feel drained.
But the Phils did win last night and I did listen to the game while studying. We need to roll up wins against crap teams like Washington (hell, we need to roll up wins against good teams too). Everybody else is winning, Hamels needs to pick one up tonight too!
yeah, tests suck. but not as bad as this shit-stained bullpen.
j-roll just scored on a fly to left and an error or two....holy shit that was messed up.
It's the usual late game mismanagement from Fuqua. Even if the Phils were to tie the game, there'd be next to nobody left on the bench and a nearly depleted bullpen. I'd love to know why Gordon wasn't brought in, but I guess he's still injured.
Woooo... look at Jimmy run around those bases! Now for extra innings. It will be exciting to see if Charlie uses Durbin or Eaton first to pinch hit.
extra innings...with mesa....i'm going to sleep, my nightmares are better than that...
Phillies suck. They will always suck. They will never not suck.
Not sure why Flash didn't get the ball tonight - when he came back they said he'd get a couple 2-3 non-stress outings and then off w/ the parachute.
PS: The Phillies are a shit storm of suckiness; the suckiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked.
Wait: Rollins scored. I love the Phillies.
only the king of the idiots uses his entire bench in a game that they are winning by two runs. he never stops amazing. do you think his shoes have velcro?
jacobin, congrats on getting the test over with, i know all about long important tests and the subsequent mental/physical collapse. have a drink or seven...
Thanks Corey, it was a miserably draining experience. The first day and a half went well enough, but by the end of it I was spent. No drinks for me though... I have to get up early for a physical and a drug test for my new job.
Fuqua makes a move to the bullpen for Romero, who has been pitching well as of late... where the hell was he earlier (why Mesa at all?).
Fuqua fucks up again. Men on first and second with no outs and he has Rowand bunt?!?! WTF!!! Rowand has been hitting the ball all over lately. He's been "clutching up" all year. And Fuqua has him bunt. That's how two on no outs becomes two on two outs with nobody home real quick.
Finally we nail it down. Phew! High 5!
We won in spite of Charlie's worst managing job of the season (which is saying ALOT considering how bad he normally is). It's a shame they blew a win for Hamels, but Howard comes through reminding us all why he was MVP last year.
Mrs Six Fingers was lucky we didn't lose that one.
Giants beat Atlanta 2-1.
C'mon on Phils keep winning.
Really bad manageing. Dobbs and Rowand bunt??? bad call. Why not have Condrey bunt when he was up? Why have Romero in extra innings throw to 1 hitter? waisted pitcher only 1 left by the 12th inning. Alfonseco is not closure material - can't wait for Myers to be back later this week.
Only 1 game behind Atlanta now
and has anybody mentioned how much they love J-Roll and Howard, I'm sorry, the league leader in RsBI Ryan Howard, lately??
Plenty of love for Rollins and Howard here Das411. Did they produce or what? J-Rolls run scoring play in the ninth was incredible. Bloody awesome!
Alf must have read the blog pre-game with his prompt delivery of the blown save. Got cocky because we were praising him. But still he has done well. Myers only a few days away.
I hope Adam Eaton turns up today and not Gavin Eaton.
Come on Phils! Go for 6!!
Cream in the coffee! Cream in my pants. You are right benjah. We got 5 picks in the first 3 rounds this year!
This winter we will gain a pick and lose it again for signing 30-40 club member Eric Byrnes depending if Arizonia finishes in the top half 15 or bottom half 15 in the standings. We don't lose anything if Az are a top 15 team this year.
Holy shit I'm tired. Glad I stayed up to watch the game, but pissed it ever went that long. Alf sucked last night and Manuel is retarded. We're lucky the game didn't go any further because we were out of bullpen options because Charlie was using them for 1 or less innings at a time...f'n idiot! We also had 3 men play 3rd base in the span of an inning...ridiculous!
SirAlden- where the hell are you getting this 30-40 stuff from about Eric Brynes (who I love as a player)? He does not have that good of power or that good of wheels.
The Phillies and Braves watched Matt Morris allow four runs in six innings on Tuesday. They also may have been monitoring Steve Kline, who also pitched.
Morris would be an alright pick-up. Better than Eaton.
