Reel Big Fish

It's time to hurdle this obstruction of a .500 record. The Phils started the season off miserably (4-11), but since that inexcusable beginning they've played better baseball to the tune of a 18-11 record. They've been winning series, but have yet to pull of a sweep. Roll out the red carpet for the King, as Cole scales the hill tonight to finally push the Phillies over the brink to "winning baseball". We're going to reel in some big fish this week, as Hamels (6-1, 3.30 ERA) takes on Scott Olsen (3-3, 4.80 ERA) in the series opener for win #1 in Florida today.

On Wednesday for win #2 will be Freddy "Chief" Garcia against Ricky "Tobasco" Nolasco, and finishing up the sweep on Thursday will be Donut-Eater Lieber opposed by Byung-Hyun Kim. You're my boy Burrell, you're my boy...he looks to continue his sizzling supremacy (5 homers in 10 games) from the homestand and torch the Marlins pitching. The season series between the Phightins and the Fish is all evened up at 3-3. This is a big 3 game set against Florida as the Phils then travel to Atlanta for a 3 game weekend series. As mentioned above, enough with this hovering around mediocrity (.500), it's time to break on through to the other side, the positive side.

Here's some inspiration..."What the Kruk?"

We are lucky to get rid of Justin Germano he has appeared in 3 games for San Diego and has only managed to win 2 of them. He is 2-0 0.47ERA, 19In, 5SO, 0.74 WHIP. Another great move by our Phils.

We don't need no stinking Germano!

Burrell usually kills the fish in Florida at the beginning of the season, as he turned over a new leaf with his engagement, he turns over a new leaf in his killing of the Marlins. Only this time he saved it for when the team really needs it. Burrell is gonna tear it up this series and lead the Fightins to their first sweep of the season... You're my boy Burrell!

Why would we possibly need a pitcher on this staff that can consistently get people out? C'mon Justin Germano is a joke, I'd rather have Yoel Hernandez any day.

Ok, I just broke my sarcasm meter.

I'm think Jimmy has a big series against the Marlins, recording a couple triples into their spacious outfield. He needs to get "rolling" again.

Ha! What the Kruk.

Let's do a link-exchange. :)

From FoxSports- Phillies righthander Tom Gordon, who is on the disabled list with inflammation in his right shoulder, began a conditioning program yesterday at the Carpenter Complex in Clearwater, Fla. The reliever will be in Clearwater through the week and will be evaluated by Phillies team physician Michael Ciccotti on Monday. Gordon is 1-1 with a 4.82 ERA and five saves in eight opportunities this season.

Phils pitcher Brett Myers acknowledged that his reputation was tainted and that some people would always view him unfavorably, no matter how many saves he amassed. He said all he could do was to stay clear of trouble and hope people forgive him. The Phillies’ general manager, Pat Gillick, said Myers had taken favorable steps. “You’re always concerned when somebody is involved in something that serious,” Gillick said during a telephone interview yesterday. “Both he and his wife have been involved with very extensive counseling, which I believe has been helpful to Brett and to Kim. The incident is history, and they’re both moving forward.”

Here's a sickening stat- our 3rd basemen have ZERO homeruns but a whopping 12 errors.

All i'm looking for is some momentum into the Atlanta series... i'll be going to at least one of the ATL games... it will be a last hoorah until our move back to PHiladelphia.

and by momentum.. i'm looking for 2 out of 3, and our bats to get back into it... this will give us the moxie to beat the braves... where another 2 out of 3 would satisfy me... heck.. playing .667 baseball is excellent baseball...

Winning 2 out of 3 (.667) baseball is good baseball and successful. In fact, that's what the Phils need to do in order to get back in this thing. It may only be May, but that's not too early to start envisioning the postseason.

Look at Kruk's tummy!

I love the '93 Phillies, the closest thing ever to the local Softball Team Champions ever.

Let's all go to the barber shop and get a Mullett!

Justin Germano only started in the minors and had zero options left.

Germano would look good in relief.

LOL Siralden, maybe we can recruit some softball champion players to play 3rd.

It's great to see Burrell hitting for power again. In tonight's win, Hamels will pass Peavy for most K's in NL.

Uhg, Nunez and Helms in! Put Dobbs in! Put Coste in! Put Siralden in!

Burrell is hitting 303 2HR 16RBI with runners in scoring postion.

WOW! Werth is showing us his Ryan Howard impersonation with his 2nd HR tonight.

Damnit, we can't get over .500! This sucks. I hate that little peckerwood pitcher Olsen... he's the little shit that usually talks crap on Philly.

Blah. Just blah. Nice to see the Celtics not get a top two pick in the NBA lottery... teams shouldn't be rewarded for tanking the season.

Anyone else think it is hilarious that Werth had as many homers in this game as that chump Bobby Abreu has all season so far??

And I would not worry too much about this game, if Rowand is an inch taller then Cole leaves with a 3-2 lead and Madson (who actually looked pretty good, IMO) and Myers lock this one down.

The real question will be tomorrow if Freddy Garcia can actually make it through six innings in the closest weather to his native Venezuela he will see all season...and if I can go find my copy of that Kruk card that is buried away somewhere!

Spewing we lost to that knob-jockey Olsen. Biggest wanker in MLB. Hurting in a big way.

GM, you know if you want a win you gotta bag the Phils not praise them or get excited. If you had said Hamels couldn't throw a strike past your grandmother he probably would have pitched a SO.

BloodStripes said...

In saying that. It was a good post and I was pumped for a win. But the Phils like a bit of reverse psychology. Hey Freddy! Prove me wrong when I say your shit.

GM-Carson said...

Have no fear BloodStripes, I'm whipping up a post right now that trashes the Phils for last night's performance, which was piss-poor!
