As much as I've been down on Burrell, I realize he is one of the big keys to this season ... As always, I will root for the guy.

Okay, So I get a text message at 11:00 this morning. Since I was still sleeping (it is Sunday), it woke me up. It was from my friend and DTDC teammate: Patrick. The exact text: "Nooooooooo! Garcia to get Tommy John surgery. I think I'm going to be sick." So there I am, lying in bed, just woken up by news that our biggest offseason move will be out for 2007. I didn't move for about 10 minutes and finally called him back to talk about this horrible mess. When I called he of course answered "April Fools."
It was the most unamused I have ever been in my entire life. Needless to say I burned the Opening Day ticket I have for him.
Michael- Pat flipped the bird to Tito Francona. It was all in good fun.

The Phillies currently have a 24-man roster, with Chris Coste starting the season on the DL. There have been a rash of released relievers over the past few days, so my guess the open spot goes to one of them. Noteable players- Dustin Hermanson, Dan Kolb, Ez Astacio, Francisco Rosario, and Ricardo Rincon.
the reds wanted to send hermanson to triple a but he didn't want to go so he asked to be released. i'm sure some team will pick him up. funny two teams the phils were rumored to be trying to trade for were released.
i think Burrell is letting some of his inner Miami Hurricane come out in this picture.

I told my wife that when we go to a Phillies game and I hear somebody booing Burrell, that I will confront that person and if a fight ensues so be it. Only boo Burrell if he completely craps the bed. His typical performance is not worthy of booing.
