Screw Goosebumps

The Phillies ad campaign this season is based on science, cutis anserina to be exact (a.k.a. goose bumps). These commercials do not draw my interest nor persuade me to purchase tickets (although I still will). Too bad the Phils didn't think of using our beer-bellied friend John Kruk. Kruk has been a busy many this offseason, first doing the Nutri-Systems weight loss commercial and now this AWESOME ESPN Fantasy League spot...rock on!

This commercial has it all- Peter Gammons wailing on the guitar, a leather-clad Kruk, Geddy Lee from Rush, and Bronson Arroyo.

The Krukster rocks!

That is the type of commercial I want to watch time and time again!

What the Kruk!

Outstanding video! Althgouh seeing Kruk in so much leather is a little disturbing.

Thats funny. The only thing that could have made it better is if ESPN coulda somehow squeezed wack job Darren Daulton in somehow.

I saw the commercial while doing abs while watching "Around the Horn", and I literally stopped what I was doing and laughed out loud. I'm not a Rush fan, but it made for an awesome advertisement.

having geddy lee in it was awesome (even though i too am not a rush fan). gammons looked like edgar winter with that wig. even though i find espn for the most part annoying i always think they're commericals are really entertaining.

ESPN can be annoying with their know-it-all personalities and their pay site "Insider", but I still tune in all the time to watch their games and Baseball Tonight.

From Buster Olney's blog- Michael Bourn, a 24-year-old lefthanded-hitting outfielder who had 17 big-league at-bats last season, seems to be making an impression in the Phillies' camp. He can throw, hit, and he can run, stealing 46 bases at three levels last year -- and that was before he began working with new Phillies coach Davey Lopes, who has been working with Bourn and getting a better first step in his break from first base.

If Bourn continues to make an impression, he could give the Phillies the extra outfielder they will need if they decide to trade Rowand for a reliever. Shane Victorino has been playing a lot in center field this spring, perhaps in preparation for the possibility that Rowand will be dealt.

well yeah thats what i meant. i watch their games and i enjoy baseball tonight. but the sportscenter and espn news personalities bug the crap out of me from skip bayless to that hispanic guy on espn news who over pronounces every latin name. and the insider don't get me started 95% of the site is the insider.

glad to see bourn is finally doing well. i thought he was older than 24. hopefully this will be his year to finally break in the majors.

Headcase Known as Gavin Floyd update- 3 games, 3 started, 9.2 inning, 16 hits, 5 walks, 13 runs (only 9 earned) for a 8.38 ERA.

Safe to say...HE SUCKS!!!

"What about the voice of geddy lee
How did it get so high?
I wonder if he speaks like an ordinary guy?
(I know him and he does!)

And youre my fact-checkin cuz"

That commercial was brilliant, but now I can't help but say Carlos Lee in a Meatloaf style like Krukker did. Should make for an interesting fantasy draft...although all of mine are online.

Funny commercial

Not surprised to see Roberson sent down, I am surprised to see No Hit Nunez with 8RBIs so far.

damn, gavin floyd really does suck. if he makes it on the mlb roster AL hitters are going to eat him alive especially at U.S. Cellular that place is worse than Citizen's Bank in terms of balls flying out of there.

furious love the pavement shout out. that song is great, the video for that song is super rediculous.

Patty G's best offseason move was ridding the city of Philly of the Headcase Known as Gavin Floyd. Just think if we could have had a half way decent starter instead of all those lousy Floyd starts. Hell, Floyd's only good start was at the expense of Mr. Danger eating fence and breaking his face.

michael said...

absolutely his best move. i think the best one since he's been here. yeah to think what could of been if he was never here.......playoffs?

GM-Carson said...

Gillick has made some bad moves too- Alex Gonzalez, No-Hit Nunez 2 years, traded Abreu for nothing, and the Eaton deal is still up in the air.

goDuke said...

I beg to differ Abreu trade was good... addition by subtraction as they say.

michael said...

you know i almost forgot about the nightmare that was alex gonzalez last year haha. but yeah gillick has made some pretty bad moves too, that being one of them. ryan franklin being signed another. but on the other hand as soon as he knows they're mistakes he tries to correct them.

GM-Carson said...

Patty G's trade of David "H-Mo" Bell was amazing. I can't believe the Brewers actually wanted him and gave us a player in return.

GM-Carson said...

All GM's are going to make stupid moves (except for Corey and me of course). Overall, I am pleased with Gillick, and what he does with Lieber will go a long way to making or breaking this season.

Our State buddies and sometimes blogged about Pirates are Peter Gammons #9 story heading to Opening Day- 9. Can Pittsburgh contend again?
Jim Tracy points to its 37-35 finish, the fact that the Pirates had more one-run games as of July 4 than any team ever, and how Adam LaRoche hitting between Jason Bay and Xavier Nady gives the lineup much more flexibility. Tracy believes Ian Snell and Zach Duke are emerging as front-of-the-rotation guys and that Salomon Torres can close behind Matt Capps, John Grabow, Damaso Marte, et al. It's been awhile, but in a division where the Brewers are rising and everyone can win 75-87 games, the Buccos seem to be fighting their way back to respectability.

awesomeness, great video, i need to see it bigger and I bet there is a 60 second clip of it that must exist somewhere. I need to see it.

Skeeter said...

While the video was amazing (it truly was) I particularly like the goosebumps shout out. Not the crappy goosebump commercials. No, the R.L. Stine works of art that scared me as a child.

Yesterday it was dookie and today R.L. Stine...this site is becoming an ode to my childhood

That was...a terrifying display of Kruk. Wow. I did not see that coming at all. But this goes to show that I could in fact find more reasons to love Peter Gammons.

I am a Rush fan and it was nice to see ol' Geddy rockin' the mike.

and I'd be happy to recommend a few songs to anyone that will make your reconsider RUSH and become a fan. I guarantee it.

good commercial... good post.

KLKatz- don't even say "Tom Sawyer" as one of your recommended Rush songs.
