From FoxSports- "The Phillies have initiated preliminary contract talks with Ryan Howard's agent, Casey Close. It is unclear what both parties are looking for, but what is certain is that the Phillies will come to an agreement on a one-year or multiyear deal, or simply renew Howard's contract, by March 2. They should have an answer soon. Because Howard is not eligible for salary arbitration until after 2007 at the earliest, the Phillies technically have the right to renew his contract at any amount if both parties cannot come to an agreement. But it's expected that even if the parties cannot agree, the Phillies will reward Howard for his 2006 MVP season with a contract perhaps worth more than $1 million in 2008. That would make Howard the highest-paid player in baseball history who wasn't a free agent or eligible for salary arbitration. Howard, who can't become a free agent until after 2011, would like to see something done. "Then I won't have to answer any more questions about it," he said. "Hopefully, they get that situated, and I'm able to get past that and focus on the season."
I think the Phillies should put Dykstra, Kruk and Williams in the booth to announce games, and let them get piss drunk while doing so ... I mean, I'd listen.
Put Daulton in there too...I'm sure you'd get some interesting commentary on metaphysics. Then again, just stick with Larry Andersen with those guys...he'd fit well. That would remind me of Harry Doyle in Major League.
I think I hate the mets more than the braves. I've put some intense thought into this and I can't think of another team (right now) that I loathe as much as the mutts. There are MAYBE 2 or 3 players I don't wish horrible things upon.
I want, no I need, that Farley as Kruck SNL skit, i've never seen it before or heard of it. please help me out. I'll donate a whole post of my blog to you if you get it. haha
Phils Notes- Infielder Danny Sandoval wasn't in camp due to visa problems. He is the lone Phillies player who hasn't arrived. ... Manuel said the third-base job is an open competition. Abraham Nunez has the edge defensively, while Helms is expected to provide more offense. ... Rollins reported to camp, but he didn't participate in the voluntary workout. ... Pitching coach Rich Dubee has switched to uniform No. 30 in honor of former Phillie Cory Lidle.
*Helms better start!
*Sandoval can stay wherever he is, forget the visa, forget him!

i think that kid sucks because as i can see he's a braves fan. also 'what the kruk' moment is my new favorite feature.
Michael- I agree that kid sucks, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to show a kid flipping the bird and having "Mets Suck" go along with it.
I too am becoming a fan of the "What the Kruk?" moments, should prove to be fun.

"My wife says I’m not as disgusting as I used to be!”
aw, krukker big or small you'll always have a place in my heart.
I think Rhino's agent should start the bidding at eleventy million dollars a year.

That "METS SUCK" kid had me pissing my pants.
But the guy with the beers would be more authentic if he was two-fisting some Yuenglings.
