Phillies Phlashback Phridays: Who Am I?

Guess this Phillie-

*Signed as a catcher by the Phillies in 1968, but never played that position in the Majors.

*Phillies weren't the first team he played for, actually his third team. His 17 year career included trips to Oakland, Cleveland, San Francisco, Cincinnati, and two stays with the Chicago Cubs.

*4 time All-Star

*Career line- 598 runs, 61 homers, 571 rbi, and an .661 OPS, but his best attribute was slick defense.

*Nickname- Indio

Manny Trillio I believe. I think he was a second baseman.

Ding-ding-ding, you're the winner...of absolutely nothing.

Manny Trillo was the MVP of the NL Championship Series back in that magical year of 1980.

Hey Scotty- my Phils and your Mets are really started to get heated, and it's only February.

Yeah I know, you gotta love spring training!!!! Only a little over a month until we begin to iron out the National League East.

Oh hey did you know that Manny Trillo helped design the Phanatic. I heard Richie Ashburn talk about that once during a game, I have no idea why I remember it, but I do.

I did not know that interesting nugget of joy about Manny Trillo, but thanks for sharing Scotty. Now go share you Mets-loving ass with some Dwight Gooden and Darryl Strawberry coke-heads...j/k.

Manny was awesome. What a great 2nd-SS tandem with him and Ivan DeJesus...man, Ivan had huge freaking forearms.

From FoxSports- Despite reports that the Phils and Padres still may complete a rumored deal later this spring, two team sources predicted reliever Scott Linebrink will not be acquired if it means giving up starting center fielder Aaron Rowand.

*I'm cool with Rowand in CF. I think he'll be a very productive 7-hole hitter that has speed near the bottom of the lineup.

At this point, I don't want to see Rowand go anywhere. His numbers were kinda crappy last year, but he has heart (anti-Abreu) and with the face re-arrangement due to fence diving possibly affecting him last year, he should be better this year. He has the fire this team has been missing, and we should keep as much of that around as possible. I say deal Lieber if possible for a bullpen peice. And then hope for the Sox to fall apart, and acquire Schilling later in the season if a starter goes down.

I'm torn on the whole Curt Schilling thing. He's a pompous ass, plus he's getting old and has shown that he's not superman anymore. I still think he has good baseball left in him, but at what price?

I'm sick and tired of athletes saying "I'm walking after this year" or "I'm testing free agency" when the damn season hasn't even started yet and they have a contract to honor. After the season is over say you shit, but keep your mouth shut about it until then.

Word out of Clearwater is that Rule 5 pickup Jim Ed Warden is sawing off right-handed bats. The guy is 6'7" and slings it submarine, I truly hope he does well this spring and makes the squad.

Schilling was beaten to the punch by the Sox, who informed him that they don’t plan to discuss any future deal until after the upcoming season.

Love the move by Epstein & Bosox to stop the posturing and eliminate any more distractions.

Just shut up and pitch Curt (and enjoy your humble ass pie).

Vote for the Krukker! Wall of Fame! Voting is now open. I'd put a link... but wouldn't want to overstep my bounds.

GoDuke- this a fan friendly blog, posting a link wouldn't be over stepping your bounds.

Everybodys favorite no-talent ass clown is stuck in Venezuela, unable to leave due to some apparent identity mixup where a criminal shares the same name.

Manny was good.

One more vote for the Krukker added.

GM-Carson said...

I'm going to go vote for One-Nut Kruk as well.

With every passing day, I'm more and more glad Danny Sandoval as yet to show...he won't make the team!

Rumor has it that the Padres may be cutting Todd Walker because they have so much depth. He can play 2ndl, 3rd, and 1st...just a thought.
