That David Wells to the Phils rumor is gaining momentum. Why sign the hefty-lefty 43 year old? So we have 7 starters...duh! Speculation has it that the Phils would then try to trade Brett Myers to Tampa Bay for Carl Crawford. And still possiblly trade Lieber for relief (which we desperately need). Carl Crawfor is an uber-athlete. He can smack some homers, steal bases, and will himself to triples. Plus he'd be under contract with options through 2010 for a modest price. I like Myers and still think he'll become an ace, but this might just be the type of ballsy move that puts the Phils over that hump.

Those 2 moves would definitely make one of the OF (Burrell or Rowand or both) expendable. Myers for Crawford I would do especially if I had another SP brought in. I like the rotation better with Myers in it.
Crawford is like Utley as a hitter with twice as much speed, awesome.

I think I played that game many years ago, was that on a PC or a game system like pong or atari?

From MLB.com- "15. How about Texas vs. Philadelphia in the next Fall Classic?
Hey, it could happen and it doesn't matter what you've done before. The AL West is more wide-open this year. The hiring of Washington, the former A's coach, as manager in Texas was seen as a coup by many. The Rangers have grown up, and they have postseason staple Lofton as their leadoff man and Gagne as their closer. In Philly, there's a bona fide starting rotation, and a tough offense built around reigning NL MVP Ryan Howard. They are two clubs that haven't joined the playoff party in the 2000s. So right away the odds are with them as big wheel keep on turnin' and the average preseason predictions are pretty much worthless."

I could handle that!

Bob D- I do believe that's still-screen shot of the video game is from Nintendo, but I could be wrong.

Its definitely Nintendo. Hopefully the Phils don't trade Myers and sign Wells. I think thats a deal we will be regretting for years. You don't trade solid youth for an old fat guy. Why don't we ever learn?

(And of course I mean Myers for Wells in the rotation) Although Crawford would be good, Myers is too much to give up. Pitching always wins in the end.

Phillies vs. Rangers in the Series? Might as well - you'd have Eaton, Fabio Castro and company against Millwood and Padilla. Maybe Daniel Haigwood would have to get called up too. Lofton also a former Phil. Are these guys Phrangers or Rillies? Oh by the way, the Phils are undefeated all-time against Texas!! (okay, so it's only 3-0) but they blasted them in all 3 games...

Hello there Kentucky Phils Phan, hope ya come back and visit and become a frequent poster.

Steve Jeltz has gotten more hype on this site than he did during his entire illustrious career.

Loved that game!!!!!

BTW - i thought it would've been a good idea (from a marketing standpoint) if they executed Saddam at midnight on New Years eve ... might have taken some of the pressure off Dick Clark.

Never played RBI 2 but the music from RsBI '93 and '94 is tough to beat...

....Myers for Crawford is interesting, but I have a hard time thinking the DRays won't just keep him and let him break all of Aubrey Huff's franchise records in like one more season...

...and can we just start running Peter Forsberg out of town now?? Dude makes JD Drew look like Cal Ripken Jr...wtf??
