Growing Fanbase

Come late August/early September we'll be adding another soldier to the army of Phillies fans. That's right, this psychotic wanna-be GM and rabid Phillies fan, is going to be a dad. Without getting all mushy and corny, I want to say that I'm am so very excited, ecstatic, and feel as though this is the biggest blessing I could ever receive, as this will be my wife's and I first baby. Therefore, I also believe this is going to be The Year Of The Phillies. You best believe that I'll be purchasing some Phillies baby clothing and accessories, as I want my child growing up rooting for the right team.

Way to go, Carson!...We should all hope that your kid gets bragging rights of being born in the year that the Phillies won it all. Nice timing as by the time he/she gets to go to their first ballgame, they can tell their offspring when they grow up that they got to see Ryan Howard, Chase Utley, Cole Hamels *and* saw Jamie Moyer pitch when he was 50 years old.

Good for you man. Teach him to throw before he can walk. That way we will have another cole hamels 22 years for now. Do for us...

Aww. A little Phillies phan is coming.

I'm hoping the kid is a southpaw, but I'm getting ahead of myself. We don't know if it's a boy or girl yet, that's still a few months away, but I will keep you all posted. I'm just so excited!

All these "congrats" are much appreciated.

*Saw Jeff Weaver signed a 1 year deal with Seattle for 8 mil. That makes Lieber and his 1 year 7.5 mil enticing...someone's gotta bite.

Phillies have been linked in a rumor to Dustin Hermanson. He's an injury risk, but if we could get him for a million, I'd take the chance.

You're a stand-up guy Sally-boy!

Good luck to you in Toronto. You catch a Raptors game yet?

Congratulations - it seems both of our wives are due around the same time (Labor Day weekend). I already told my family that if it's a boy, I'm tying his right arm down and teaching him to throw the change up with his left!

GM-Carson said...

How sick and twisted are our minds? I too told my family that one way or another if it's a boy he will pitch left-handed. Scary minds think alike.

Congrats. I can only hope I can raise any kid I may eventually have to root for the "right" team as well. Although, it may not be the same as yours ; )

In all honesty, my kid can like any team they wish. Hell, they may end up not liking baseball altogether, but I find that difficult to believe. And as phanatical as I am about my Phillies, it would be hard for the kid to like anybody else.

My one son likes the Phils, the other one doesn't really like baseball much - but hes 6ft tall so I'll teach him to go around and twist the arms of any Mets prospect. Hows that sound? Good parenting, right Carson?

Congratulations -

You'll soon be going to weekly t-ball games where after the ball is hit - all 9 defensive players start running towards the ball. And for the first several games of the season, kids will try to go to third base first.

But it's alot of fun!

My kid will grow up learning the game the right way. Between me and Uncle Corey, this kid is already a prospect...ha.

Way to go dude!! Here's hoping the newest should-be-GM does not have to wait nearly as long for that first championship as we all have!!

Congratulations Carson. Big news man.

You know from this point on life will never be the same again. Its all over dude. You could have had a good life you know.

BloodStripes said...

Haha! Just kidding mate. You will love it. At least most of the time. Ha!

To be honest you will never experience a love like it. The love for your own children is truly unique.

Its good to know you don't shoot blanks eh?

:]

BloodStripes- I know my life is going to be flipped completely upside down, but I welcome it. My wife and I couldn't be happier right now, as we still have 7 to go.

Congrats man! Get some extra sleep now, so you can be ready for the lack of sleep you're soon to be in store for. We just found out that we have a little guy on the way, so that'll be 2 boys and a girl for us... hopefully he'll be a left so I can retire early.

GM-Carson said...

How sick is it that all us daddies are hoping for boys that grow up to be left-handed pitchers? Gotta love baseball!

goDuke said...

What are you gonna do? The sad thing is one of my older son's friends fathers said the same thing at basketball this week. There are more of us who think this way then you realize...

BloodStripes said...

Carson. I wish you all the very best. Very happy for you mate. Being a dad is great. You will love it.

I am going to love it. My wife and I have been hoping and waiting for this for quite some time and now it's finally happened...well I mean it will happen, still another 7 months away.
