Buccos Bits

Yuslan Herrera
No one really know much about this guy. He didn't pitch last year. Before that he had mediocre to bad pitching in Cuba. Apparently he figures to be a 4th or 5th starter whenever he does make to the big club. "He throws strikes," Dave Littlefield said. Wow, ringing endorsement.
----------------------
Freddy Sanchez
No word on whether Freddy has gotten anybody to scrape some of those things off of his face. I'm scouring the blogs. I'll let you now if I hear something...
-----------------------
Jer0-4my Burnitz
This was the headline on Yahoo! not long ago, "Pirates decline option on Burnitz." That is news? "Somebody" thought paying Jeromy Burnitz $6 million last season might be a good idea. Is Dave Littlefield the crappy version of Ed Wade?
--------------------------------------
Ryan Vogelsong
Props to BucsDugout.com for posting this story about Vogs signing to play for the Hanshin Tigers. Well, whoever the AAA team for the Tigers is, they are getting one helluva mop-up-man.
------------------------
Trades
Beaver County Times has an article talking about how the Buccos want to be active in the trade market. They even mention names like Carl Crawford and Mark Teixeira. This is grossly irresponsible. Somewhere, some little Bucco fan is giddy because he thinks Carl Crawford is coming to the 'Burgh. He's probably even making a homemade Crawford jersey. Then, come June, the Buccos will run Burnitz-like players out there. No Crawford. No Teixeira. That little Bucco fan will be crushed. He'll probably hang himself with his homemade Crawford jersey. And I'll blame you, Beaver County Times. I'll blame you...
--------------------------------------
Lloyd McClendon
Lloyd, whose greatest contribution to the Buccos is pictured to the right, has joined a very exclusive group, "ex-Pirates or Phillies that inexplicably get hitting coach jobs," as he is now the hitting coach for the Tigers. This once again proves that major league hitting coach is not really a job, but only a title. Any idiot could do it, and most do. Why don't they just give it up and start hiring non-baseball people to do these jobs. They can't do any worse and it might make things interesting. For instance, I want the Buccos or Phils to hire Stephen Hawking to be their hitting coach. All he has to do is sit in his glorified Rascal and type, "keep your hands inside the ball." Just imagine the cameras zooming in to the dugout, focusing on Hawkin drooling all over Charlie Manuel, as Chris Wheeler says, "He might not be able to move his arms, but he does all the little things right."

wow...mlb loves to talk about parity, and about how so many teams 'have a chance' when it comes to the playoffs and world series....but then there are teams like this one. eeeewww

maybe those things on sanches' face give him his hitting power, like sampson's hair or something.

there is no parity. only parody.

now that is some deep shit.

Hey wait a minute, how did the Pirates get Sanchez in the first place again?

Freddy is the mole. The Beaver County times are taking on alot of responsibility talking like that. Beware little Buccos.

corey- stephen hawking has been used in the blog twice before, but that was classic!

i'd love for the pirates to vastly improve over the offseason, bot c'mon let's be realistic. they did play near .500 ball in the 2nd half though.

phils news- helms is expected to bat 6th in the lineup...that means we're stilltrying to get a big bat.

the Diamondbacks are ready to make a substantial offer to Wolf, who is also being courted by the Yankees, Mets and Blue Jays...oh well. if the phils can't keep wolf eaton or batista are the fallback plans...i'd rather have miguel over adam or randy.

buccos news- marlins are looking at duffy as their cf...trade him for one of their many solid arms.

"Hey wait a minute, how did the Pirates get Sanchez in the first place again?" - i hope this isn't a "defend Littlefield" type of statement. one good trade does not make him a good GM.

Duffy to FLA or COL for Mike Jacobs or Brad Hawpe.

how do you make that conclusion? how about burrell bats 5th...

what no poll today? is it really saturday?

GM-Carson said...

we had like 5 polls earlier this week, thought we may be "all polled out" for this week. also, i didn't have a good idea and was quite frankly too busy to put much time in it. the poll will be back next week...probably.

You mean that Crawford is not realisticly coming to Pittsburgh??? And I made that jersey by hand for nothing. Well there is only one thing that I can do with that ...snif snif... jersey. I'll see ya all!

GM-Carson said...

double-knot that thing and tie it to something taller than yourself...otherwise you'll just be embarrassed...as if rooting for PA baseball teams isn't embarrassing enough.
