Random Ramblings

The Phillies are currently losing the first game of their doubleheader with the Braves, I can't get the game on TV, so I thought I would throw some random thoughts out their as GameCast updates:

Playoffs
When Larry Bowa was here he was 29 games over .500 in 4 years. 3 of those years the Phils finished 86-76, a winning percentage of .531. Charlie Manuel's only full season as manager he went 88-74. The Phils missed the playoffs each of those year. This years wild card leader, San Diego, is winning at a .513 clip. It seems the Phils play just good enough to be in the chase, but never good enough REALLY be in the chase.

Dubee
This, my friends, is what I would refer to as a "Rich Dubee"

Poll Update
"Blue Unis" took the Saturday Poll by a slim margin (16 to 14 ) over "White Guy Perms." "Porn Mustaches" (5) and "Jheri Curls" (3) were third and fourth respectively. In honor, here is a picture of Phillies great Sixto Lezcano in his best "dress blues."

Abe Nunez Update
Poor Abe is down to .193, which is exactly Randy Wolf's career batting average. This is beyond pathetic. Kevin Sefzcik thinks Abe Nunez sucks.

Game 1
This was my original audio clip for game one:

but then Matt Diaz boots one in left field to give the Phils a 6-5 lead, so I guess I'll have to change the audio slogan for Game 1. Hey, is Arthur Rhodes available to set-up or close?

Holy Hannah that's a Bob Marley size joint my friend. That shit could get the entire CIT high as a kite!

Nuni is disgusting. He's going to go down in history for having one of the WORST "offensive" seasons of all time. Imagine making the Wild Card while have the Mr. Anal Aeoribs (Bell) at 3rd for half a season then turning to No-Hit Nunez for the 2nd half.

If the Phils win this game they're lucky for once, as they've played bad...bad enough they should lose.

Positive- Brito may have found his niche. Not a starter, not a setup man...but quality long guy...they're important. That's what a staff saver really is.

GM-Carson said...

We have slain the 1st head of the monster that we attack "two"-day...now can we get the 2nd?

GM-Carson said...

Where the hell is everyone tonight?

Anyway- 6-toe, I mean Sixto was an ol' school Phucco. Phillies 83-84, and retired as a Pirate in 85...nice!

Just got home and I am having trouble with my internet connection. Using a backup dial-up which fully sucks. Very pissed off.

Good to see we are up in the 4th. What happened in the 1st game? Cmon Phils make this connection crap worth it. Please win.

By the way that is an awesome joint. Woo....smoke it up.

I was flicking through the Phillies 2006 cards that you get with the publications subscription and noticed that out of all the players and coaches only one was pictured wearing a pair of dark shades. Yep, you guessed it. Rich "Mary Jane" Dubee was that man. What a classic. The man is of his tits! Smokin'!

Oh shit.....bases loaded 1 out. C'mon Leiber!

Dude, don't bogart it! There's enough to get the whole Internet stoned!

Brito is scary, but he's great as a "second starter".

I again must poke fun at those who doubted Victorino. In JUNE I suggested Victorino bat second. Meanwhile, certain pundits accused him of not being an every day player, having weak offense, and having WEAK DEFENSE! I don't care how you frame it: Victorino is an upgrade over Rowand.

BloodStripes said...

Wow! Great night for Nunez. 2 run single in the 9th going 3 for 3 with 2 walks and back over the Mendoza line.

Good game all round. Everyone hit. Top day Phillies. Keep it going.

GM-Carson said...

i suggested victorino could be the starting CF in april. carson laughed at me...which probably was appropriate, because i may have been drunk when i said it...but i was not that far off.

I agree Whelkman. Victorino is awesome. He has been a shining light this year. A big upgrade although Rowand is still valuable. Vic was'nt the IL MVP last year for nothing eh? Great to see him playing so well. Certain starter next year.

Check it out.

Most home runs in batter's first 1,000 major league at-bats:

Ryan Howard........80*

Cecil Fielder......76

Jim Gentile........75

*-in 870 at-bats through 9/11/06

He's our man.

BloodStripes said...

So its you we should be calling Oracle hey Corey? Good call man.

GM-Carson said...

All praise due and questions directed toward Oracle Corey. He did tell me Vic was his boy and he had MLB starter in him...I laughed, and I've since admitted to being wrong. I love Victorino, he should be counted as a starter next season.

I was so pissed last night. I came home all geared up to watch the first game...not on tv. No biggy, I'll catch the back end of the double-header right? Nope, both games not on Comcast. I haven't seen a Phils game since Sunday...I've got the shakes man, going on withdrawl, I need a hit of that good shit!

By the way, who the hell is Jim Gentile? Is he Jewish?

Come along, and take another hit from the blog!!!

I can see cleary now the rain is gone (stupid rain), I can see all obstacles in my way (Pads, Fish, Giants)...and I'm also seeing 20-20, as Rollins and Utley are the 1st Phillies middle infielders to hit 20 homeruns a pieces...congrats!

Unbelievable - two wins in a double-header. When was the last time the Phils did this? I was impressed with Brito. And hey, that bull-pen showed up for once.

GM-Carson said...

The sweep is a must today. That is if we can get the game in...stupid rain is still up and down the east coast. Reds need to beat the Pads too so we can get closer!

Whelkman said...

Carson, both games were on UPN/The CW 57.

GM-Carson said...

I don't get that UPN (local Philly only as I understand)...in fact here in Central PA I often get screwed out of televised baseball games because I'm considered in the O's, Nats, and Phillies market...unreal!

I'm psyched about tonight's game, it's been awhile since I've been excited...it's nice to have this feeling back.

GM-Carson said...

And your NL Cy Young Award goes to...(drum roll please)...Chuck James.

GM-Carson said...

Pads win today and the Phils lose. And people wonder why Phillies fans are harden, cranky, and disgruntled...well duh!

Looks like the Braves found another gem of a pitcher in Chuck James. I've seen him a few times now and he knows how to use all his pitches in different situations and move the ball around the zone...in other words...Good Pitcher!

Carson,

A real Phillies fan would erect a 30 foot antenna to receive channel 57.

Missed the game because of PC troubles. I'm at the library writing this getting my Phillies and blog fix.

Spewing they lost. Gonna miss fridays game too. Be back for saturdays.

Important series against Houston. If they take 2 and sweep the Cubs things could start to look alot better. Lets hope our 'aces' are up for it.

BloodStripes said...

Just noticed SD now play LA in a 4 game set. Now really is the time to put a win streak together Phillies. This is a big oppurtunity to gain some ground whatever happens in that series. C'mon......time to go!!!!

BloodStripes said...

Talk about withdrawals DQ. I got nothing here without my PC. Being where I am, MLB and the internet go hand in hand. Aaaarrrrgggghhh its killin' me!

Go PHILLIES!!!

:]

GM-Carson said...

The last 2 Phillies games I've gotten to watch the offense has managed to score a measly 1 run...combined!

BloodStripes said...

Burrell must have finally smoked that Dubee. What a shot! At last.

GM-Carson said...

Burrell needs to "come along, and take a hit from this blog"...he'll feel real good then.

BloodStripes- that right there is why you're an honorary GM.

BloodStripes said...

Why thankyou my friend. This blog is the best. I like your book idea, very cool, I want one!

Plenty of comments everyday. You gathering a steady readership. Keep up the great work.

GM-Carson said...

I'm very happy with the way this blog is growing. I love the way there is a set of you that come here almost daily, and then there's another group that drop by once in awhile. I want it to keep growing, and it's all about spreading the word. Jason Weitzel of BeerLeaguer told me that it takes time to build a loyal base of readers, and I'll take his word for it. I'm going to keep doing this for my pleasure and just hope more and more people find that they enjoy it too.
