Life Support

Are we alive? I can hear the faintest sound of a heart beating. Wait, I found a pulse! Although the wind has been knocked out of us, we're not giving up yet. The Phillies are 2 games back of the Wild Card with 2 games to go. Here's the scenarios: Dodgers or Diamondbacks have to lose next 2 and Phillies have to win next 2. Believe it or not I actually have more confidence that the Phillies will win the next two, more so than either LA or SD losing both games. All hope is not lost, but at the same time we're hanging on by a string...we're on life support.
Today's game could be fun win or lose, but I opt for the win. Scott Olsen of the Marlins will be on the mound and he popped off at the mouth before this series about how he wanted to be the one to crush the Phillies playoff chances. Thanks for the motivation there you dim-witted crotch goblin! He's bitter over his ejection from last Sunday when he beaned Nuni. The ejection was well deserved in my opinion, and now I'm hoping it leads to a beanball war! I love bench clearing brawls, and if the Phillies can't make the playoffs a brawl would ease my pain just a bit.
I'm preparing for the worst here as you probably guessed by the Red Cross symbol and the booze and drugs. My poll for today is what will you do to help erase the bad memories of yet another season of coming so close to the playoffs?
How will you alleviate the pain?
Booze
Drugs
NFL/NBA/NHL
Depression

P.S. Dick Coons, I mean Richard Kuhns doesn't know anything about the depths of a Phillies fan's depression.

Luckily Corey is not around to watch the demise of the Phillies this weekend, as he went to Cleveland. Therefore, I was in charge of the poll today. I voted depression because booze, drugs, and fall/winter sports just aren't enough to ease my pain. The only thing that'll make me better this offseason is if the Phils make some good deals/signings and then of course spring training!

BloodStripes- by the way I'm trying to convince my wife we need to take a trip to Australia, Corey said he could probably convince his wife too. We're only joking, but hey at least the seed is planted.

Don't joke DQ, get your arses down here brother. There is lots of room. Its a big, wide, brown land and we would love to see you. Stay at my place. I'm on the coast a few hours south of Sydney. Beaches, National Parks, fishing, surf, its all here. We even have a baseball team.

I voted booze because I have already downed 10 beers. Maybe some Mary-Jane would help too but I don't smoke anymore. I'll cope but the beers and some blogging is helping.

Speaking of a bench clearing brawl. I was keen to see one last game. It looked like Looch was thinking of a charge when he was hit but maybe he thought he should save it for Olsen. Belt the dickhead Phils!

BloodStripes- your ass is lit right now...loving it!

BloodStripes said...

My dumb ass is'nt sure what that means. We have cultural differences going here. I'm assuming its a good thing yeah? LOL

By the way, very good post and poll, especially considering I am drinking right now.

GM-Carson said...

"lit" referring to the fact that you're a bit inebriated, drunk, intoxicated, smashed, hammered...you get the drift.

BloodStripes said...

I get it. Yeah its a bit lit. Not on fire, but lit yes.

Sorry about the Pirates failing to beat any teams for the past... 8 games. I think they finally realized that they had no reason to keep playing.

From a post earlier in the season: "Now, this blog wouldn't be complete without a daily complaint about our bumbling manager Charlie Manuel. Charlie's strategies are things of beauty. Really they are, he's got the craft of managing down to a science. Too bad his science project blew up and he failed the 6th grade 2 times!!!"

Winter sports will sooth my pain. I have a special place in my heart for Andre Iguodala & the Eagles.

After yet another rain delay, the Phillies are ready to see if this Wild Card thing is even possible. Hey ho, let's go!

GM-Carson said...

Randy Wolf...c'mon a-hole!

I like Wolf, but his constant inability to put hitters away is killing him. Every inning he pitches seems to be 25+...good grief!

fans said...

Inquirer reported Lieber is not with the team due to personal reasons. I think he knows he won't be with them next year.

I hope Wolf realizes he won't be either...after being removed in the 2nd inning today.

GM-Carson said...

I enjoyed rooting for Wolf, but I really don't want him back as I understand the Phils need someone better than him if they plan on contending next season. But if they trade Lieber, then retaining Wolf would be a good answer along with getting another starter with bigger upside.

Lieby needs to keep hitting and go out of Philly with class...but go out, do NOT return!

Phils got 99 problems but that bitch Scott Olsen ain't one!

GM-Carson said...

The bullpen, who's arms are already falling off, are trying to seal the deal for the Phils. 3 more innings...here's to hoping!

BloodStripes said...

Man this is close. Ties in Ari and SF too.

I got criticized on PhilliesPhans.com yet again. Today I complained about Wolf's pitched (he pitched shitty), the use of Roberson (he can't hit), and other various things that happened to be true. Many of the statheads over there dislike sarcasm and are ultra-sensitive if you don't say what they think...why do I bother going there?

BloodStripes said...

LOL, Yeah it can be full on over there. I usually only root on the game threads. Did you know that the word root in Aussie slang means having sex. Hahahaa. So to an Aussie what I just said sounds very suss indeed.

Tom Gordon is our new Jose Mesa.

Phew, glad Vic ran that ball down. Things are perfectly set up for the Phils to miss out by 1 game once again.

Found this post for all you out of towners like me.

"www.viidoo.com Download the TVU player and click on the FOX channel."

"Works like a charm, I watched Eagles game week and someone has posted the CSS Philly channel This is an Out of Towner's dream come true."

This is why the PhilliesPhans website can be real good. I am in the process of setting this up but it seems bloody good. Apparently It only carries west coast channels (plus a few foreign ones) for now.

BloodStripes said...

Oh yeah....its all free. Illegal but free. Nice....

Having a USA feed of fox and ESPN for free is totally awesome for a baseball nut like me. This is killer!!!

Do it people

season over... wonder what the off season will bring?

GM-Carson said...

Season is over, well we're eliminated...still 1 game to play. I know this offseason is going to be very interesting, and Corey and I plan to address many topics over the offseason. I hope many of you still come around even though the Phils won't be playing. I still play on doing a post every day or so, and I know Corey has some ideas lined up.

GM-Carson said...

some booze would serve us all well right now, along with some designer pills...that'd wipe out the bad memories.

BloodStripes said...

Thanks Coery and Carson for a great season of blog posts. Looking forward to a relaxing off season. Will be checking in daily, keep up the fun and good work.

BloodStripes said...

DQ. I won't bother doing a blog. I'd rather just come here and save my words for comments on this blog.

GM-Carson said...

BloodStripes- as you know, you are the honorary 3rd GM on this site. Others are awesome for stopping by daily, but you are our leading poster, so we're more than happy to have you do all your ranting and commenting on here.

BloodStripes said...

Haha......cool.....thanks.

GM-Carson said...

BloodStripes- by the way, how many beers did you down the other day? I once did a 30 can case myself...ugly drunk!

BloodStripes said...

10 or 12. I had several during the football grand final in the afternoon and kept drinking through to about 11pm. I was alright. Had a BBQ dinner mid-way through. So i had plenty of gut luggage to soak it up. My wifes parents were here for the weekend and they like a beer and wine. The wife too, so I was'nt alone. I was'nt even drunk although if I am I'm a happy drunk. I was having fun. I suppose I sounded pissed off, but I was cool. Just having fun cussing away. Sure I was disappointed but not angry.

30 cans?! Crikey! I don't think I could go 30. No wonder you gave up. LOL. Thats huge.

BloodStripes said...

Did I just say I was'nt drunk? I suppose I was a little bit. Geez I even thought I was gonna keep a blog. Haha. It was simple to set up. Its making it good that would be the hard part.

GM-Carson said...

That day I did 30+ cans I ended up passing out for the night on a table. I used to be able to drink like a fish, good thing I gave it up or I may have ran myself into problems. Beer and drunks are funny though...good times!
