Yo-Yo

No, the Yo-Yo title is not because I want to be a gangsta rapper, although if I were I'd be much along the lines of Eminem because of my amazing ability to free style. And I guess that would make Corey Dr. Dre for obvious reasons. Rather, the Yo-Yo heading to this post is the constant up and down mood swings we experience as Phillies fans. Here's why: for almost the entire season we've been down, except for upswings like J-Roll and Ultey's hit streaks, Howard's bombs, Hamels' debut, and the beginning of May. Then all of a sudden comes the trade deadline and we're back up again because the "new look" Phils are playing better ball and making an unbelievable run at the Wild Card. Bring in the drop...yesterday's game, with horrible defense in the 6th, they literally hand the game to the Mets and say "go ahead and laugh at us". I'm hoping we can go back up tonight, because taking 2 out of 3 from the Mets would still be considered a success.

I found the Mets' maximization of Phillies' lapses more disheartening than the errors themselves. Many other National League teams would have squeezed a mere run or two out of that situation, but the Mets are a team that's always ready despite their laid back demeanor. There's just no room for "Typical Phillies" with Mets' bats. It's not that the Phils lost but how terrible they can manage to be. I'd feel better if future Hall of Fame pitcher Tom Glavine snapped his bad streak and pitched shutout ball.

Here's to hoping the "Fightens" aren't as depressed as this statement.

Yesterday's loss, reminded me of a certain phrase "gimmie-n-E"!
